The Top Ten Video Games of 2000-2009 According to My Husband

I am not a big gaming person but my husband loves it. This list of the best games from 2000-2009 came from him though I researched the information and wrote the article. Personal opinion is therefore lacking.

Top Video Games of the Decade

Grand Theft Auto 3: Vice City (2001)

Grand Theft Auto 3: Vice City is an action/adventure game developed by DMA Design. It was published by Rock Star Games. I remember Grand Theft Auto 3 at the time it was released because it was my husband's most loved game for well over a year. The Grand Theft Auto series is one definitely made for the player to blow off aggression. Killing people and selling drugs are just two of the activities in this game that will advance you to the next level. Our PlayStation 2 ran this game many times in 2001-2002.

World of Warcraft (2004)

World of Warcraft is a very addictive online role playing game. It was released by Blizzard Entertainment. World of Warcraft was announced on 2 September 2001 with expansion packs released throughout subsequent years including 13 November 2008. More than 11.5 million monthly subscriptions of World of Warcraft existed as of December 2008.

Guitar Hero (2005)

Guitar Hero was released in 2005 by Red Octave and distributed by Activision. The game uses a guitar shaped object as a controller to stimulate playing. The goal is for the player to match the onscreen notes to coloring fret buttons on the game. Guitar Hero mimics many features of playing a real guitar. There have been three major releases of the game. Guitar Hero has sold more than 25million units worldwide.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (2006-2009 depending on video game console)

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a first person shooter game. It was developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare has been released for Microsoft Windows, MAC, OS,as well as for the XBOX 360, Play Station 3, and Wii video game consoles. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was released in November 2007 for video game consoles and windows. It was released almost one year later for MAC and was released for Wii in November 2009. It was the highest selling video game worldwide for 2007.

Rock Band (2007)

Rock Band is a music video game released by Harmonix Music Systems. It was published by MTV and Electronic Arts. The PlayStation 3 version of Rock Band was released in the United States on 20 November 2007. This game allows four players to simulate the performance of popular rock songs by playing with various instruments, controllers, and singing through a USB microphone. There is a graded ability to match singing and playing. Rock Band for the XBOX and Play Station 3 can interact online.

Mario Kart Wii (2008)

Mario Kart is a racing game developed by Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development. It is the second Mario Kart game to use the Nintendo Wifi Connection. Mario Kart Wii was released in April 2008. The game is very interesting as it has various characters from other players across the world. Mario Kart Wii sold over one million copies in both Japan as well as the United States in under one month.

Wii Fit (2008)

Wii Fit is a video game both men and women can enjoy. It was released by Nintendo for the Wii console within a period of a few years in different places all over the world. Japan released Wii Fit first in December 2007 with the North America release trailing by release on 21 May 2008. Wii Fit is currently the second best selling video game in history (among packages not packaged with a console). As of October 30, 2009, Wii Fit had sold 22.5 million copies. Wii Fit uses balance and a board to calculate body mass index. Yoga and push ups are two exercise activities the game helps the user to improve.

Left for Dead (2008)

Left for Dead is a cooperative first person shooter video game. This game was developed by Turtle Rock Studios. Left for Dead is available for Windows and the XBOX 360. It was released digitally on 12 November 2008 and in US retail on 18 November 2008. Left for Dead has won several publication awards. The focus of the game is on cooperative play and it is enjoyed by critics. A sequel, Left for Dead 2, was released 17 November 2009.

Halo Wars (2009)

Halo Wars is a real-time strategy game. It was developed by Ensemble Studios and published by Microsoft Game Studios. Halo Wars was released for the XBOX 360 video game console in North America on 3 March 2009. This game is set in the science fiction universe of the Halo series in the year 2531.

Final Fantasy XIII (2010)

The Final Fantasy is very popular and beginning next year there will be a new release, Final Fantasy XIII. Final Fantasy is a console role playing game. It was developed and published by Square Enix for the PS3 and XBOX 360. Several of the Final Fantasy installments were released during the 2000-2009 decade but this one will not be available in America until 9 March 2010. Final Fantasy games are noted for their futuristic and natural elements. My husband loves them and has every release thus far.
