The Top Ten Villains of Batman

S.R.
The Dark Knight has been surrounded with mass media popularity for decades, and as such probably has the most well known Rogues Gallery in the world. Though you know all these names, I'll count down the top ten Batman villains anyway.

# 10 - Clayface
Clayface has been an identity that many Batman foes have used, but perhaps the most famous is Matt Hagen. Clayface is able to manipulate his body to perfection, using his abilities to shape shift or form weapons out of his hands. His ability to control his mass and density makes him surprisingly sturdy or agile, depending on the occasion.

# 9 - Poison Ivy
Poison Ivy, the world's foremost advocate of plant life over human life, possesses a deadly touch and she doesn't have any mental inhibitions in putting these skills to work. She can secret poisons from any part in her body, though she usually gives people lethal dosages from her lips.

# 8 - Scarecrow
Johnathan Crane appointed himself the Master of Fear and terrorized people by releasing hallucinogens in the form of gas. He could then manifest the greatest fear of his targets and force them into doing his bidding. Scarecrow's formidable brain but lack of physical prowess keep him at our #8 spot.

# 7 - Mr. Freeze
Victor Fries was a joke of a villain for a long time. That is, until Batman: The Animated Series. In a single episode he was transformed from a laughing stock into Batman's most sympathetic villain. Yearning to save his wife was all Victor ever did, but an accident turned him into Mr. Freeze. He possesses a suit which augments his strength and a gun which can freeze things.

# 6 - Penguin
Oswald Cobblepot was a bit lame for the longest time, but he's been reinvented in recent years as the crime savvy Penguin we all know and love. His assortment of trick umbrellas, cunning intelligence, and lethal demeanor make him a force for Batman.

# 5 - Riddler
Edward Nigma has only one goal in life: To outsmart Batman. This unique villain utilizes his intellect as his primary way of annoying Batman. Without resorting to physical violence, he often pushes Batman to his mental limits making him a deadly foe indeed.

# 4 - Catwoman
Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle have a long history together, and though it's never quite worked out they've held their affections over the years quite well. Although a common thief at her roots, Selena has shown great prowess for physical combat. Most notably, her trademark weapon is the whip.

# 3 - Two Face
Harvey Dent was once a shining beacon for Gotham City, but now he finds himself one of it's worst enemies. The former District Attorney suffered a mental collapse and has extreme personality disorder. Two Face has pushed Bruce Wayne to his absolute limits several times, making him take our #3 spot easy.

# 2 - Ra's Al Ghul
Perhaps Batman's only true equal, the near immortal Ra's Al Ghul is a fearsome adversary. With intellect beyond his thousand years, deductive skills, and an amazing martial arts prowess, Ra's has only ever considered Batman to take his place after death. That tells you a lot about his power and even more so about his character.

# 1 - The Joker
Nobody else could be #1. The killer of Jason Todd, the crippler of Barbara Gordon, and the Clown Prince of Crime. This totally erratic villain has captured the imagination of comic fans everywhere, and easily remains the most popular and loved of all Batman's villains.

That concludes our list for the top ten villains of Batman. Until the next movie, which will probably feature a villain from this list!
