The Top Ten Villains of Captain America

In 2011, the movie The First Avenger: Captain America will be released. Who is Captain America? A marquee superhero from Marvel Comics, also known as the Sentinel Of Liberty. He has amassed quite the Rogues' Gallery, and now I'll give you a run down of my personal top ten of these characters. Let's get started!

#10 - The Scourge Of The Underworld
Who is this character?
Concrete intelligence of this character is few and far between. What is known is that they are an organization of people who specifically target and kill villains. They often yell the phrase ''Justice Is Served!'' upon doing so.

What are his powers?
Scourge is first and foremost, a complete master of disguise. They use external objects and gear to blend with everyday people flawlessly, often sneaking up on targets completely undetected before killing them. The Scourge has been known to be an excellent marksman, rarely missing it's target.

#9 - Viper
Who is this character?
The most well known leader of HYDRA, Viper was born was in the 1920s and utilizes years of experience to hold together one of the most feared Terrorist organizations in the world.

What are her powers?
Due to a contract she made with Chthon, a God, she ages extremely slowly if at all. In addition, she is totally immune to toxins of all kinds. Viper has gained a massive amount of intelligence regarding criminal activities and has trained in many forms of martial arts. Her trademark weapon is a bull whip, though she is not above using firearms. She has shown to be very adept at creating toxins and poisons of her own, which she releases through her hollow fangs.

#8 - The Super Adaptoid
Who is this character?
The techno terrorist group Advanced Idea Mechanics ( AIM ) assembled the Adaptoid robot and put the piece of an almighty Cosmic Cube inside of it, giving it unique powers.

What are it's powers?
The Super Adaptoid has the ability to mimic the appearance, abilities, and mechanical characteristics of any creature it is in close proximity to. It is a perfect replication in every way. It can even copy more than one person's powers, up to eight. Even after copying more than one person's abilities, it can mix and match them at it's whim.

#7 - Flag Smasher
Who is this character?
The son of a diplomat who traveled the entire world, he saw his father die during a political riot and decided to eliminate patriotism and nationalism from the world.

What are his powers?
Flag Smasher is an extremely capable martial artist, having studied many forms since he was young. He is also fluent in hundreds of languages, having learned them in his travels as a youth. His trademark weapon is a mace, though he has used other weapons including firearms and flamethrowers.

#6 - Batroc The Leaper
Who is this character?
A French mercenary highly trained in Savate, a French form of kick boxing.

What are his powers?
Batroc is regarded as one of the best martial artists in the Marvel Universe and is a master of many forms of unarmed combat. In addition, he is a grand master of the martial art Savate and is the world's foremost authority on it. He is also a ruthless mercenary and is known to carry potentially lethal weapons.

#5 - Machinesmith
Who is this character?
Sam Saxon was a master of robotics, nearly equal to Dr. Doom in skill. He was killed in battle but saved by the own robots he created, becoming Machinesmith.

What are his powers?
Machinesmith's most striking power is his ability to transfer his mind and personality psionically into any mechanical construct. He can even occupy several machines at once. Machinesmith has shown to be a complete master of creating complex robots. Generally, his robotic bodies are extremely strong, being able to lift up to two tons.

#4 - Crossbones
Who is this character?
A New York gang leader in his youth, Brock Rumlow grew up idolizing Red Skull and would eventually become his most trusted right hand man.

What are his powers?
Crossbones engages in extremely rigorous workout routines and remains near the peak of human capability. Furthermore, he is known as an exceptional martial artist in several forms. His ruthlessness and willingness to kill along with a lethal array of weaponry makes him an extremely dangerous fighter. His trademark weapon is the crossbow, though he often uses guns and knives as well.

#3 - Baron Zemo
Who is this character?
Zemo was a highly regarded scientist during Nazi Germany. He invented a completely permanent adhesive named ''Adhesive X''. During a struggle with Captain America, the adhesive bonded Zemo's purple cowl to his face permanently and he has sworn revenge ever since.

What are his powers?
Zemo has perfected a chemical agent that slows his aging to a near standstill, effectively making him immortal in terms of aging. Baron also has shown to be a paragon of science, creating many inventions such as special adhesives, gene altering, laser armaments, robotic androids, and lethal weapons of all kinds. Furthermore, Zemo is adept at many forms of martial arts.

#2 - Hate Monger
Who is this character?
A clone of Adolf Hitler, leader of Nazi Germany and the Axis of Evil.

What are his powers?
Hate Monger has the ability to emit ''Hate Rays'' from his body, which heighten the evil, prejudice, and ruthlessness of any target it touches. Additionally he has limited shape shifting and illusion abilities. He has also proven to have an extremely durable body.

#1 - The Red Skull
Who is this character?
Captain America's nemesis and arch villain, Johann Schmidt was a simple street thief when he was hand picked by Hitler to be bred and grown into a being known as the greatest evil the world has ever known.

What are his powers?
The Red Skull is able to psionically transfer his mind into other living beings, effectively making him immortal. He is regarded as one of the most brilliant masterminds in the Marvel Universe, especially in the fields of politics and subversion. He has single handedly led many of the world's most powerful terrorist organizations simultaneously without ever being caught. His strategic plans and organizational ability have made him a threat to the entire world since his birth in the 40s. Furthermore, he is a fearsome and accomplished martial artist, almost being Captain America's equal. His marksmanship is near perfect, having shown excellent aim with guns and knives. The most famous of Red Skull's weapons is the ''Dust Of Death'', a dust created by Johann himself that contains a chemical agent to kill foes. This chemical agent induces a withering of the skull and often the mortally wounded foes take on a visage similar to Johann's own.
