The Top Ten Villains of Spider-Man

S.R.
Spider-Man remains one of the most well known characters in the entire world, and his villains are equally regarded for their infamy. This list will take you through my personal top ten list of Spider-Man's greatest villains.

# 10 - Kingpin
Though many will disagree with Kingpin's low placement on my list, he takes this spot solely for not being a Spider-Man only villain. He's the arch nemesis of Daredevil, and as such that's reflected here. Still, Wilson Fisk has had many encounters with Spider-Man. And as the musclebound Kingpin of crime, he will have many more will be just as dangerous every time.

# 9 - Shocker
Herman Schultz, The Shocker, is one of the most fearsome villains in Spider-Man's library. As strong as he is smart, he developed gauntlets that release high pressured blasts from any distance making a force to be reckoned with. He is a rarity in Spider-Man's Rogues in that he's quite sane and sensible compared to the other villains.

# 8 - Scorpion
Original an investigator, Mac Gargan underwent a surgery that drove him insane. He was endowed with the powers of the Scorpion, but repeatedly lost to Spider-Man. Recently he acquired the powers of Venom, and is a bigger threat now than he ever was before.

# 7 - Rhino
This wrecker is aptly named, as he has superhuman strength and durability. He gets his namesake from his Rhino suit, which is also extremely durable and covers nearly his entire body. Rhino is never an easy opponent for Spider-Man, as Rhino can destroy nearly anything he touches in a single hit.

# 6 - Electro
Maxwell Dillon is an underrated villain in Spider-Man's Rogues Gallery, possessing complete manipulation of electricity. When Electro is fully charged with electricity, he possesses superhuman speed and strength. Thankfully, Electro has a very exploitable flaw in his need to feel superior at all times. Otherwise, Spider-Man might have met his end long ago.

# 5 - Sandman
Flint Marko, born and raised in poverty, was accidentally apart of a radiation bombardment project. This in turn transformed him into Sandman, one of the strongest foes Spider-Man has ever tangled with. Sandman is obviously composed of sand, sand which he can control masterfully. Impossibly hard to damage while being very strong himself, Flint's only weakness comes in the form of water, which can destroy him very easily.

# 4 - Lizard
Dr. Connors served in the war, wherein his arm was severed in service of America. He created a process of regeneration to give his limb back but at a horrible cost: It transformed him into a giant Lizard, with powers to match his namesake. He remains a victim of consequence and one of Spider-Man's more sympathetic villains.

# 3 - Mysterio
Mysterio has no real sob story. Quentin Beck was simply a man who saw his talents and decided to use them for evil. As such, he's done a great job and has been one of Spider-Man's most frustrating foes to tangle with. Mysterio's mastery of illusions, magic, and hallucinogens make him an interesting character to read about and he easily takes our #3 spot, after Spider-Man's two biggest baddies.

# 2 - Dr. Octopus
Otto Octavius remains one of Spider-Man's most iconic foes and my personal favorite. Otto is one of the greatest minds in the Marvel Universe, a master of all things science and a gifted thinker in general. Radiation caused him to be bonded to four mechanical arms, which could be controlled telepathically. Dr. Octopus is always a joy to see, and when you want to see Spider-Man pushed to his limits, Otto is all you need.

# 1 - Green Goblin
Norman Osborn, The Green Goblin, is most widely known as the killer of Gwen Stacy. Osborn took an untested serum which transformed him into a physical powerhouse but drove him insane. Donning the Goblin costume and using the Glider and Pumpkin Bombs, he's by far the most fearsome of Peter Parker's foes. Recently, he has actually manipulated the Marvel world into making him the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as the leader of the Dark Avengers. Norman is the ruler of the Marvel for the time being, and he has no intentions of leaving.

That's it for our rundown of Spider-Man villains. Hope you enjoyed.
