The Top Ten Wrestlers that Should Return for Wrestlemania XXVII

Who Would Make Your List?

Rodney Southern
Wrestlemania is known as the "grandest stage of them all" in the world of World Wrestling Entertainment. What better place is there for a former wrestling superstar to make their return? In some cases, the wrestlers are making a return to the ring from another company, and sometimes they return from a former retirement. Every year, wrestling fans start hoping for various former wrestlers (or new wrestlers to WWE) to make their appearance at Wrestlemania. Who are the ten wrestlers that people will be hoping for at Wrestlemania XXVII in Atlanta on April 3, 2011? Here are ten top choices:

Brock Lesnar

This one is thought by many to be done. Lesnar has been rumored to be returning to face the Undertaker and his Wrestlemania winning streak, though that has been shot down by some in the industry. Brock Lesnar has faced some hard times lately in MMA after losing the belt to Cain Velasquez, and might be looking to get back some WWE glory.

Bill Goldberg

Goldberg is rumored to be coming back all the time, so this one is no surprise. He is perhaps the most enigmatic wrestling superstar of all time, and a Wrestlemania return would be huge.

Sting

Sting is the one person on this list that never worked for WWE, and he is without a doubt the most wanted. Sting in WWE, even at this late stage in his career, would be monumental. So many people have wanted this to happen for so long, the pop would be legendary.

The Rock

The Rock is quite comfortable in Hollywood now, having secured a wonderful acting career, but he would still be a great draw for Wrestlemania. His legions of fans would certainly love it, and so would I.

Stone Cold Steve Austin

Stone Cold is not likely to return as a wrestler, but he certainly could come back as a referee or special guest. His days in the ring are likely in the past, but Stone Cold can still get over without putting on the tights.

Jeff Hardy

Hardy is not likely to move from TNA, but he certainly is wanted by a great many WWE fans. He placed high in this survey in spite of the fact that he is firmly entrenched in TNA.

A.J. Styles

Like Hardy, Styles is a TNA mainstay. He is not likely to jump ship, but he would be huge in the WWE. His style of wrestling would fit in beautifully with the current stable of WWE stars, and he is a dream choice for this list.

Booker T

King Booker is one that would be popular as well, but like others on this list he is aging. Booker T still has something left in the tank though, so a return at Wrestlemania is not out of the question.

Trish Stratus

Trish is a WWE legend in her own right, and rumors have been flying. To see her come in and light a fire under the Diva's division would be a Wrestlemania highlight. Stratus is perhaps the greatest female Diva of all time.

Kurt Angle

Angle is not going to return to WWE, but we can dream. His incredible wrestling skills are legendary and nobody is any better at telling a story between the ropes. I would love to see Angle back in the WWE, and feuding with the Undertaker.

*This list was compiled by surveying 50 wrestling fans via a wrestling forum and represents the consensus among them.

  • Sting has never wrestled in WWE, making him a great choice.
  • Bill Goldberg is one of the most popular choices around.
  • It is rumored that Brock Lesnar may return in some capacity.
