The type of tuxedo you choose is dependent upon several factors: Your taste, your brides taste, the time of day, the time of year, and the weather (is it going to be cold or hot). Since your wedding is going to be in the winter months, it may be safe to assume that it will not be too hot wherever your wedding venue may be, that is, unless you're getting married in Australia during their summer months (while it's winter in the U.S.). A groom can usually get away with wearing a traditional tuxedo for a winter wedding. If your winter wedding occurs is going to be someplace warm, consider wearing a light colored suit. It would probably also be safe to assume that if your wedding is going to occur someplace that is normally really cold during the winter, it will probably not take place outside. If your wedding will occur outdoors consider wearing a tuxedo that is made of material that will keep you warm, particularly wool. It may be also a good idea to wear something warm underneath.
There are other rules that come into play when choosing the tuxedo style. If you are planning on having a daytime wedding (one before 6 p.m.) then it is typically less formal. In this case, you can wear a dressy suit and use tuxedo accessories if necessary. Evening weddings (those after 6 p.m.) are more formal so full dress should be considered.
