The Tossing of a Random Stone

John Smither
A stone

Picked at random

Is tossed

Into the still water

It causes

A rippling effect

Growing ever wider

A pebble is sent

Across the flat surface

Of the lake

As it skims

Up and down

It bounces

How many times

Was that?

Wasn't that an awesome?

Piece of skill

As it disappeared

Into the depths

Of the murky waters

Scattering the marine life

As it falls

Far from view

From the smallest

Of ponds

Right up to the

Largest of the oceans

These bodies of water

With their ripples

Currents

And tides

Similar to the

Ebb and flow

Of life
