The Town of Danville, California, is located about 30 miles from beautiful San Francisco. Danville is referred to as "The Heart of the San Ramon Valley". It is considered as one of the wealthiest towns in the bay area with a population of less than 50,000.

It hosts several community and on-going events. The month of August is probably one of the busiest event and festivities month for Danville. Several popular events have been attracting neighboring cities of San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton and Dublin for last several years.

One of the regular year around event in Danville is it's Certified Farmer's market. The Farmer's market is held every Saturday from 9AM to 1PM at the Rail Road and Prospect Ave. It is a wonderful place for socializing and helping local farmers by buying fresh fruits and vegetables. Farmer's market is not just for selling fruits and vegetables; people can find flowers, plants, Indian or Japanese food, different types of honey, almonds, kettle corn and other delicious ethnic food. It is a great place to hang out, socialize, shop and enjoy live music featuring local musicians.

One of the most popular events in Danville is the Family Fun Night at Monte Vista Pool. The town even has a special name for the event: "Aloha 'Oe". This event will take place on August 7^th from 6PM to 8:00 PM. Family fun night is the combination of pool games, prizes and music. Rafts and Inner tubes are allowed and swimming is only $2.00 for children 12 and older and $3.00 for adults.

Danville residents love the music that is played in the park. There will be two music al events that will take place during the month of August.

1- On August 6^th, Summer Fest Shop & Dine Night will be held in downtown Danville from 5 PM to 8 PM. Residents can enjoy shopping and dining late that night. The mood is always festive during the night and people love to walk downtown and enjoy some of the best restaurants in downtown.

2- On August 8^th, a large number of Danville residents will gather at Oak Hill Park and will enjoy the event called "Music in the Park" from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This event is sponsored by the town of Danville and will be a live music concert series. Residents are encouraged to bring blankets also. The event which is totally free includes singing, dancing and socializing.

The other popular event is the "Art and Wine Stroll" which will be held on August 13^th between Hartz Ave and the Livery from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This event features local artists to show their works. In addition, Napa and Sonoma Wineries bring their best vintages. This wonderful event also features local entertainment and several famous food vendors.

If you think these are all the August events for a small town, think again. August events are not complete without a Moonlight movie night. This unique movie night will take place on August 14^th between 8:00 and 10:00 PM. A family movie is shown in an outdoor setting under the stars. Residents bring their lawn chairs, blankets and snacks and enjoy every minute of it.

And finally on August 20^th, Hot Summer Night's Car Show will take place from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. It is basically a street party where people present their classic cars. Streets are filled with muscle cars, hot roads and rides along with food stalls, souvenir booths and plenty of music.

As you can see, the town of Danville is full of exciting and fun filled programs- perfect for families to get together.
