The Town of Danville - Events in October, 2009

The Town of Danville is located about 30 miles from beautiful San Francisco. Danville is referred to as "The Heart of the San Ramon Valley". It is considered as one of the wealthiest towns in the bay area with a population of less than 50,000. Danville is considered a town instead of city since it restricts large developments and does not host big shopping centers as hosted by nearby Pleasanton and Dublin. The downtown Danville has a look and smell of old fashioned town with beautiful mom-and-pop types of shops and restaurants.

Danville hosts several community and on-going events. There are several events and festivities during month of October in Danville. These events have been attracting neighboring cities of San Ramon, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton and Dublin for last several years.

One of the regular year around event in Danville is it's Certified Farmer's market. The Farmer's market is held every Saturday from 9AM to 1PM, rain or shine at the Rail Road and Prospect Ave. It is a wonderful place for socializing and helping local farmers by buying fresh fruits and vegetables. Farmer's market is not just for selling fruits and vegetables; people can find flowers, plants, Indian or Japanese food, different types of honey, almonds, kettle corn and other delicious ethnic food. It is a great place to hang out, socialize, shop and enjoy live music featuring local musicians. Now Farmers market also provides free parking at close by parking lot. Art in the Park event will take place on October 3^rd and 4^th from 10:00 Am to 5:00 PM at Town Green. The activities of the event include paintings, photography, jewelery and ceramics display. More than sixty artists from the bay area are expected to exhibit their art. This event is very admirable since it provides the grants for elementary and middle school art programs for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. The event is free for the public.

Another exciting event in October is the lecture, slide presentation and exhibition of more than 130 treasures of ancient Egyptian tombs of King Tutankhamun and his family in the Valley Oak Room of Danville Library. This event will take place on October 7^th and is free for the public. In addition to this event in the library, there will be a giant book sale on October 16^th and 17^th from 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The library is located at 400 Front Street, Danville. This is one of year's most popular event of Danville and you can find quality books and videos.

The weekend of October 23^rd and 24^th will be pretty busy for Danville. On October 23^rd, Children's Fall Festival will take place from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Community Center. The main activities include arts and crafts, different type of games, tick-or-treating and other kids favorite activities. Pre-registration is required for this event.

On October 24^th, Fall Crafts festival will take place in downtown Danville. This is probably one of the biggest event of October with activities ranging from arts and crafts of over 200 artists to music, food and the entertainment for the whole family.
