The Trail of Trials - a Shakespearean Sonnet

The Trail of Trials

Rachael A. Lund
Avoid this darkened path so oft I've tried
Its chill of deepest grief the heart doth break
A lonely stretch of frozen tears I've cried
But O' this traveled path we all must take
Not by request nor a desire we seek
Led by the hand of tragedies and fates
Enveloping mist that swallows the weak
From harshness emerges strength it creates
Tho' this path may wind on for timeless miles
And hours may pass to many a year
A sweetness is found in all our trials
Light that shines only in the darkness here
So though I wish not to journey this trail
I will press on seeking that which prevails
