The Transformers Movie - Can it Live Up to the Hype?

On the Fourth of July this year, many people will be celebrating the independence of our country. Many others will be celebrating the release of the live action Transformers: The Movie. Can the Transformers movie actually live up to the hype?

The Transformers movie is based upon the Transformers franchise and toy line. Unlike the 1986 Transformers movie, this year's movie will be live action not animated. To clarify a point that may come up, the actors will be live, but the Transformers will be animated through CGI.

The basis of the movie is fairly simple, and you do not need to be familiar with the Transformers line to understand the movie. The Autobots (the good guys) and the Decepticons (the bad guys) are sentient robots from another part of the universe. They make their way to Earth to continue an age-old war.

Michael Bay will be directing the movie, with the assistance of Steven Spielberg as the executive producer. There is not enough time or space here to review the numerous successes of these two directors.

Hasbro, the company that owns the rights to the Transformers, has made deals with over two hundred companies to assist in the promotion of the movie. The Transformers movie will be publicized in over seventy countries over the world.

Among this promotion, Activision is set to release video games based on every major games system. Hasbro will also be bringing out toys that are based on the likenesses of the Transformers in this year's movie.

Over the last year, Transformers booths have been displayed at E3, Comicon, and many other conventions. These have been some of the most visited booths at these conventions.

During the previews that have been released on the Internet, very little of the animation of the Transformers have been displayed. This has been the caused for questions to be raised by many fans.

Many fans are wondering if the CGI animation will be realistic or not. Many fans are relating this to the 2003 release of The Hulk movie. Eager fans were outraged by the fact that the Hulk did not appear even remotely real. They felt disappointed that they had spent many months looking forward to the movie only to see a cartoon-like rendering of their favorite hero.

These fans worry that the reason why the Transformers have not been featured better in the trailers is because the creators of the film are not happy with the CGI animation. The promoters of the movie state that the reason why the Transformers are not being seen in the traders is to make sure that the fans are more surprised by the realism of the animations.

If the Transformers movie is unable to live up to the hype, it will most likely still make enough to cover its unreleased budget. Many are expecting to see long lines wrapping around movie theatres in the days approaching the release.

If the Transformers movie is able to live up to the hype, it may break box office records. The movie would end up challenging 300, the new Harry Potter movie, and Spiderman 3 as being the highest moneymaker of the year.
