The Trinity

A Reflection on the Pieces that Are Myself

Brendan W Vittum
This poem has been reworked several times since its original inception. The title has waffled between trinity & longing - but the current name is best. It is a reflection on the pieces that are myself.

The Trinity

Child dwells
in an old man -
in turn dwelling
within a man.

Combined, inseparable,
as three they are
one.

Triune existence,
separate in nature;
they are -
and look to the west.

What
do they see,
apart and
united?

Dreaming,
combined in being.
Living,
diverged into multiples.

What
was lost,
they gave freely.

Together,
they mourn independent.
