The Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey: A Review

Jimmy Smith
The Tropicana Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey is located on Atlantic Ave and it sits on the boardwalk where there is a "strip" of other casinos as well. Parking cost $5 dollars. Rooms cost about $49.99 but you can get them "comped" rather easily. Just get a Tropicana card and your well on your way to getting a free room or a free offer to stay there, they want you to come back trust me.

The Tropicana has a lot of good places to eat like the 24 hour Seaside Cafe, where you can pretty much order anything you want 24 hours a day. There's a Hooters in "The Quarter", an area where there are other restaurants and leads down to the boardwalk. There is a P.F Chang's as well as a Cuba Libre restaurant there. Just a great assortment of restaurants and food here. Can't forget about Carmines for Italian food as well. The boardwalk has many stores and places to eat, as well as shops. Everything in the Casino is very expensive.

The room I stayed in was a standard room that had an ocean view, it was a clean room and was adequate for gambling purposes. The room was clean, and there was a great and versatile room service menu all though it was very expensive. In fact every extra feature in the casino hotel room was more expensive then the conventional hotel.

On the floor there are many games like blackjack, poker, roulette and craps as well as slot machines. There is baccarat and many table games like 3 card poker and such. I tried black jack first and lost $200 right out the gate. I then played poker for the next 24 hours straight and won $2300 at the 1/2 table, not a bad score in any case. I played some slots after that and lost all about $100 dollars on those. The poker room usually only has 1/2 no limit hold-em and there isn't really a higher limit game there that often. There are Omaha and Stud games as well as tournaments from time to time as well. Overall the poker room isn't a bad poker room, but I prefer the Borgata or the Taj Mahal for poker, personally.

The Tropicana is right there in the middle of the pack of Casinos down at Atlantic City, I'd rate it below the Borgata,Harrah's and the Taj Mahal. But better then Caesars,Bally's and The Showboat. It's not a bad Casino by any means, just that the Borgata and Harrah's are more luxurious with bigger poker rooms and everyone knows the Taj has the best poker room on the boardwalk.
