The True Cost of a Cluttered House

Do you ever need motivation to clean your house? You might have one of those days when you'd rather sit on the couch, munching on chips than get up and clean.

Do you realize how much a cluttered house can cost you? I would hate to say it will lead to your downfall, but it seems the potential is there!

I sat down amongst my messes, in my aggravation and woke up to how bad a cluttered house can leave you feeling. These definitely got me motivated to get up and clean!

A cluttered house costs you money.

How many times have you had to run out and purchase something because you either couldn't find it, or didn't know you already had it? Keep your house neat and organized and you'll be surprised at the amount of money you save. Chances are you'll know exactly what you have, and where it is when you need it. I can't tell you how many rulers we have. We seem to always misplace rulers and have to run out and purchase more! A place for everything, and everything in its place.

A cluttered house costs you time.

Think of how much time it takes you to dust and clean. What could you be doing in those same hours? Writing for Associated Content and making money instead. Remember, it takes longer to clean something that hasn't been cleaned for a while. You'll spend more hours scrubbing than you care to. Run down the list on a daily, or at least weekly, basis and keep things neat and tidy. Spend 15 minutes a day cleaning up, instead of hours at a time de-cluttering. This will free up more time for you to go off and do other things that you enjoy.

A cluttered house costs you happiness.

If you have a lot of clutter in your house, you're probably slightly unhappy about your home's condition. If you are too embarrassed to have friends and family over, it can lead to a lonely life. Get rid of stuff, especially if you have no use for it and it isn't sentimental to you. Coming home after a long day of work to a cluttered house can be emotionally draining. Make life easier on yourself and clean up the clutter- then keep it clean! You'll be able to have people over without feeling like climbing under a rock.

Have a disorderly house can be aggravating and embarrassing. It can lead to low self-esteem and general poor health, especially if you have people in your family that might be allergic to dust, or have asthma. If "stuff" has no meaning to you, get rid of it!

Have a yard sale or put it on Ebay if you want to make a few bucks. Freecycle is also great if you just want to give stuff away, or donate to a local charity.

Simplifying your life can be easy, and you'll be happier once it's done. Keep it that way, and chances are you won't miss the stuff!
