A stuffed doll with a plastic smile permantely stamped on its puss? A Hallmark Card with someone else's sentiment? No, of course not, it's a beautiful full bouquet of red roses. But, have you ever wondered what the bouquets of roses you receive from your one true love really signify? Every woman knows a single red rose means love. However do you know what it means when your boyfriend gives you a white and red roses bouquet? Please read on to find out:

The meaning of roses goes back to the beginning of time. The rose has its own significant meaning and color. The language of roses began in Persia in the 15th Century was brought to Europe in the 18th Century and became popular in the 19th Century.

Lover's used roses to convey their feelings without speaking a single word. The Victorian's used detailed messages with rose bouquets to telegraph their feelings. The same color of a bouquet can mean different things. A note or the number of blooms on a stem of a rose can make the message to the lover clear.

The red rose is used to stand for respect and courage. It signifies a lover's love and respect. It means love, unity, romance as well as passion.
There are many different shades of the red rose:
The original fiery Rose stands for the flames of the lover's desire and heart.
If you receive a bouquet of black roses from your loved one symbolizes hatred and goodbye and is used in funerals.
The Amanth rose stands for a lover's long lasting desire.
The Cardinal rose stands for a lover's sublime desire for their significant other.
The Carmine rose stands for a lover's deceit.
The single black rose symbolizes a close friend or loved one for war or if they are on a journey he does not expect to return.

The coral, orange rose stands for an implied desire. The purple, lavender rose stands for the lover's grace, gentility, and elegance. It is also for a lover's sweet thoughts, which adds enchantment, opulence and majesty. The purple and lavender rose is also known as blue roses.
A peach or pink rose, stand for friendship and is given for appreciation and gratitude to the recipient. It is usually given for sympathy to someone who is ill. A bouquet of roses can also say so much to the lover:
Red and white roses in a bouquet mean unity of the lovers.
Red and yellow roses translate as happiness the lovers will have in the future.
The orange and yellow roses a lover receives in a bouquet mean togetherness, enthusiasm, desire, as well as passion. The white and coral rose bouquet stand for a lover telling their significant other they desire them.
Yellow roses signify friendship, joy and jealously, in Victorian times. Today, the yellow rose has changed to
mean friendship, joy, as well as freedom.
On the other hand the beautiful yellow rose can prophesize disaster, heartache and sorrow in other cultures.
in Islamic culture the yellow rose means deceit, treachery, and even adultery.
In Mexico, the yellow rose is a sign of death,
In France, adultery.
In Asia it means death.

A lover sending a dozen white roses to their significant other stands for secrecy, innocence and purity. They symbolize a lover's reverence to their true love as well as thier humility.
The white rose in American culture stands for security, and happiness.

The number of roses you receieve in a bouquet also has significance:
One rose symbolizes - Simplicity
Two roses symbolizes-Great gratitude, a coming marriage or an engagement.
A twelve rose bouquet symbolizes- a declaration of love
A Twenty-five rose bouquet symbolizes- Congratulations
A fifty rose bouquet stands for great unconditional love
A bouquet of mature rose blooms symbolizes- Gratitude
A single rose in full bloom- I love you
A rose in full bloom that is placed over two immature buds symbolizes-Secrecy
A rose in half bloom stands for- a timid love
A thorn-less rose given by a lover stands for love at first sight, ingratitude and attachment. It means great danger and beware when a lover gives their significant a thorn rose. The rose leaf symbolizes hope and a rose in a tuft of grass or leaf means everything is to be gained by the lovers good company.
To recieve a red rose bud symbolizes someone who is pure and lovely and is inclined to love.
A rose bud of any color, except red means youth and beauty, an innocent love, and that the recipient is young and beautiful.
So, pay attention the next time you receive that beautiful bouquet of roses or a single red rose on your anniversary, birthday or date it may mean the future of your relationship.
