The Truth About Hell

Amanda Kidd
Many religious leaders and Christians believe that sinners will burn in hell forever. This is an ambiguous statement as this can suggest figuratively or literally, but what does the Bible relay about hell? The Bible does state the word forever, however, forever and its definition and deliverance must be examined. There is forever which means continuously, and forever also means eternally. Christians must also understand that the Bible uses figurative speech, metaphors, and parables, so one must read the entire passage or related passages to determine its true meaning. Throughout the Bible you read how there'll be no more tears, sadness, or pain after the judgment. If this is true, then a person can speculate that there'll be no one burning forever (continuously), because this will mean pain and tears, knowing your loved ones are burning, 24/7, while you're in heaven. Did God mean they'll burn, but you'll have no memory of it (certainly not)? God is a loving God; He takes no pleasure in destroying Satan, let alone torturing him along with sinners, day after day, night after night.

The Bible also states "old things will pass away." Does this mean everything except eternal damnation or hellfire? If God will destroy the devil and sinners through death eternally, then burning in hell forever (continuously) isn't death, its hell on layaway because they are still alive, that's eternal punishment. These false teachings have inconsistencies and discrepancies, when God says "death will have no power over us" ever again, His words are literal. Death will be demolished once and for all. Isn't that beautiful to know that Satan and his worldly advocates will be extinguished (unless you're his advocate)? The Bible assures that "they'll be weeping and gnashing of teeth, the wicked will be reduced to ashes on the ground." Certainly those who are burning will feel this reward for their conduct on earth, but the Bible clearly states "the dead know nothing and they'll be ashes under our feet." This truly demonstrates that hell is not a continuous fire. Sinners will burn eternally, which means they will perish until ashes and will never rise to manifest evil again. "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news." Amen.
