The Truth About Medications for Fever and Pain

Let's talk for just a minute, out of the four major drugs available: Acetaminophen is the safest in a list that includes: Acetaminophen, Aspirin, Naproxin, and Ibuprofen. The other three can cause internal bleeding so severe it is rare but fatal.

Alright, now that we have gotten that out of the way we can continue our discussion a little bit more about acetaminophen. Acetaminophen cannot reduce inflammation, however they each do their own job better than the other. This of course also depends upon the correct dosage.

Acetaminophen is available in several different brands such as but not limited to Tylenol, Datril, Tempra, and Liquiprin. Acetaminophen's a good choice because of its safety ratings. Also it doesn't cause ringing in the ears or upset stomach or common side effects like aspirin.

It is very important to know the dosage and possible side effects of all of the medications you consume. Acetaminophen is used in identical doses as aspirin. Adults will be given two 325mg tablets every three to four hours per year of age.

The more expensive aspirin is not more effective than the cheaper brands. When you open the aspirin bottle and it contains a vinegary odor then the pills should be discarded because this means they are going bad. The dosage for aspirin is the same as acetaminophen 325mg.

Now we have naproxin which is also know as Aleve. Naproxin has recently become available over the counter with out the need of a prescription. Naproxin is given out in two hundred mg. Naproxin is very effective against pain, inflammation, and fever.

Carefully read the label because naproxin is more toxic to the stomach than ibuprofen, and you're not to take more than three in twenty-four hours.

Finally last but not least, we have ibuprofen from of the list. Ibuprofen is also known by other name brands for example Advil, Motrin, Nuprin, etc. This particular medication is almost impossible to commit suicide by. However, concerns have been raised where kidneys have had mild problems.
