The Truth About Santa Claus

He's a Lie

Celin Childs
Most people that celebrate Christmas have been told all about Santa Claus as kids. Our parents, teachers, peers, and other influential people in our lives would tell us all about the fat jolly old man in a red suit coming down our chimney on Christmas Eve to deliver us a pile of toys for Christmas day. We heard all of the stories about how this mystical man and his tiny green elves work all year long making toys at the North Pole in order to deliver every child in the entire world toys by the end of the Christmas Eve night. We have even heard stories about his 8 reindeer and the most famous of all Rudolf who has a bright red nose. From time to time you may have even heard a story or two about Santa's fat jolly wife, Mrs. Claus, who shows support to her jolly fat husband.

Your parents probably stood in line for several hours just so could take a picture with a fat white man with a long white beard dressed in a Santa suit. You may have even been afraid of him and burst out crying the first time you saw him and was forced to sit on his lap, I know I did. You probably have been telling your own children the same stories you heard as a kid and how wonderful it is to have Santa Claus come on that very special night.

Well I am here to tell you, for all the people who are denying it…Santa Claus is a LIE!! Santa does not exist, he never did. Most people try to raise their children with dignity, honor, and respect, but why is it these same people are the ones who make up the most lies when it comes to Christmas. I thought that Christmas was supposed to be a holy Christian holiday, but most people treat it as if it is a time to tell lies to their children. I can hardly go out in public during November thru December without somebody mentioning the invisible man that never existed. I get frustrated with the fact that people associate so called religious holidays (Christmas and Easter) with fictional characters (Santa and Easter Bunny), I truly feel that these holidays are themselves fictional. People decorate their lives with pretty colorful lights, reefs, trees, and presents, to escape the reality of reality. People want to believe in something special something extraordinary, so they don't have to think about their 9-5 or their boring lives.

People go out of their way to lie to their children. You can now purchase fake Santa Claus letters and have them sent to your child. I even seen on EBAY last year a couple was charging about $2,000 to show up at people's homes on Christmas day dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus in a sleigh. People buy fake Santa suits and throw lame parties for kids. Teachers even hype children up before they go on Christmas break about all the wondrous things Santa is going to bring them.

How can we get mad as a society when our President is constantly lying us to; when the media is sugar coating the news, and when our spouses are cheating on us and lying that they had to work late; when the whole nation is lying to their children? People choose to tell their children all about how Santa is watching over them all year long to see if they were good or bad, when instead they should be teaching their children about how God watches over them and He is the only one who will judge them. Instead people fill their kid's heads with garbage starting out young and then they wonder why their children lie to them as teenagers about very serious matters.

By telling your child that Santa Claus is real, you are opening up the door for their moral corruption. You are letting them know that it is "ok" to lie sometimes, when in turn we all know that it is much better to tell the truth all the time. For all of the Christians, isn't it a sin to lie? So don't you think that God does not appreciate you telling lies to your children no matter how fun and exciting Santa Claus really is? I thought that Jesus (peace be upon him) was one of the most righteous men in history and that we are supposed to be following his ways. I doubt he ever told children false stories about someone who does not exist.

Can you go back to the pain or betrayal you felt as a child when you were told that Santa Claus did not really exist. You probably believed for a whole 10 years of your life that Santa came to your house just so he could deliver you your own Transformer or Barbie Doll. You had no idea that mom and dad were the ones who would stay up all night and leave out your toys. Now imagine how your children will feel when you have to break the bad news to them that you have been lying to them the entire time. Now don't get mad when your child finally tells you the truth that they have been hiding their pregnancy from you, or that the reason you didn't see their report card a month ago was because they got straight F's. Don't get mad, because remember you taught them that it was "ok" to lie sometimes.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

The logic seems clear until you say stop lying about Santa Claus, and instead be good because another fantasy named God is watching you. The same need for an immature humanity to use a fictional Being to corral our behavior is shown in the attitude towards the kids, by telling them the Santa Claus story. Both are stories, and useful in youth. In maturity we can enjoy the storied, but deal with the much deeper and complex reality, in which Easter Bunnies, Santa Clauses and Gods exist only in imagination.

Santa Claus is not a lie hes the spirit, the salt and sugar that makes christmas fun and magical.People should not take all the magic from children. In spirit Santa is just as real as you and i.

I am a Christian, but I also understand that Santa is not a lie. He is a symbol. The bible used many symbols. I've read a great explanation recently "Santa is the spirit of giving, hope, and imagination that exists within one person." I also believe that Santa is a symbol for "generosity and love." What we are teaching our kids is not to lie, but to believe that there is good in the world and that they can be a part of that even after they don't believe any more by helping other children less fortunate. I hope something good comes along in your life. I will be thinking of you at Christmas and wishing you peace within.

Get real people. No Santa Claus was not a real man, but someone the stupid Christians made up to squash the real person who was St. Nick. St. Nick was an Irish Druid. Ya Druid (a holy man of the Pagan beliefs). He was Cannonized by the Christian religion to try to convert more pagans to christianity, Just like Christmas was a holiday (holy day) that was made up to match one of the Pagan holy days to try to convert Pagans over to christianity. Just like easter was made up to coincide with another of the Pagan holy days. Christians have tried year after year to try and have Halloween removed from existance. Why? Because it is another one of those Pagan Holy days. They have failed year after year, and have tried there for to make it into a little fun time of the year for kids. All you stupid christians are doing is converting more and more people back to the Pagan beliefs as they search for the truth, and find it. The true WAY is the Pagan WAY.
Thanks to christians we no have glo

In all great fiction are great truths. Einstein said that if you want you child to be a genius, read them fairy tales. People that get hung up on Santa being some lie should check themselves.

You guys are crazy to think that it is ok to lie to your children just because it is good for their imagination. It is nutz to lie to them. Then they are going to be crushed when someone tells them on the playground that Santa is not real. You will probably lose a notch of their trust just because you chose to lie to them. Ok St. Nick was a real guy but he never was called Santa Clause and he never flew in a sleigh with reindeer. I am talking about Santa, not St. Nick.

Unbelievable the extremes people go through to celebrate in vain. Who is Santa, nothing but (like you said) a fat imaginary man. My children know that Santa is NOT real. I chose to not focus on the materialism of Christmas, rather focus on the main reason. Some 2000 years ago, God made Himself a body and became our supreme sacrifice. It seems most of today's society choses to take this holiday back to it's original roots of paganism. (opening a can of worms?, maybe) Hey a duck's a duck :)

Bitter, indeed. Is there something so wrong with childish belief in an abstract concept? Santa Claus is one of the last remaining 'magical' things in a world which is slowly becoming more and more brutal. If I must put my daughter's letter to Santa in the trash as soon as she gives it to me to mail in exchange for her spending hours making gifts for her family so she can be sure to stay on the nice list-- well, I see little wrong with that.

By the way, Santa did exist. You say he's never existed, but apparently you didn't read up on your facts. Try looking up Saint Nicholas- that's Santa's original name, and the man he once was.
