These are 6 elements; parents, coaches, excitement, selection, time, and success windows that are needed for a successful youth coaching philosophy.
Communicating with Parents regularly: Parental influence is the key factor for soccer training which is essential in the mental and physical growth of your players, particularly on the day of the match. The pamphlet of "parental responsibilities" provided at the beginning of the term is not adequate. Regular meetings should be arranged with the parents to highlight the key points again and discuss issues.
New soccer coaches: An important part of the philosophy is that you should not only concentrate on development of the players, but also the coaches. You may try if one of your kid's parents can become a soccer coach? They would be the best candidates, not required in the beginning, but might be an option for the future.
Selection: The greatest reason for players with great soccer skills to lose interest is non-selection. Studies reveal, that the players think that they would not get selected for a good team so they opt for a bad team. Therefore, use a logical selection system which gives all players equal game time.
Time: The session should be started on time and the parents should also be told to be on time. The start and finish times that are clearly defined make for an effective session.
Excitement: Is it imperative that every soccer coaching session has to be enjoyable? You must definitely try to make each session a delight for the kids but then, its not possible all the time. Therefore, go for a positive attitude as an alternative.
At the time of training the kids, it is valid that coaches face problems with ideas on how to make training interesting. Therefore, the biggest obstacle that coaches face is to be creative enough to bring about new drills every now and then.
In soccer drills, it makes sense to keep escalating the difficulty aspect so that kids get skilled. The best way of doing this is to get started with a game, look for a problem, and then rectify it with a drill.
Success windows: Try and incorporate a "success window" for the season as a significant element in your training sessions. This actually requires you to determine a lower limit and an upper limit of time with a view to measure the level of success that needs to be achieved.
As an example, time frame of minimum four and maximum eight weeks. This can be achieved for both the team members and the individual members.
