Charles Town, West Virginia is a convenient stop over for anyone traveling through Maryland, Virginia or West Virginia. Charles Town is a casino town with a race track and great hotels/motels for travelers of all types and for all reasons.

After stopping over at the Turf Motel and Rib Room at 741 E. Washington Street, Charles Town, West Virginia this writer has decided it is the best place to stay for your convenience and money (www.Turfmotel.com). The guest rooms range from Double Queen rooms to King Suites, with in-room amenities including refrigerators and microwaves. These rooms are large and comfy, providing a cozy place to relax after a day of driving, work, or gambling at the nearby Charles Town Casino. Room service, which I love, is available from The Rib Room during the hours that the restaurant is open.

The Rib Room Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and just lunch and dinner the rest of the week. The Rib Room is known for their prime rib dinner which is prepared to order and draws hungry folks in from the surrounding states.

Charles Town, West Virginia is a quaint town close to historic Harper's Ferry, nestled in the West Virginia Mountains. No matter what time of year that you choose to pass through this area, it is always welcoming and beautiful. Spring brings fresh crisp air and new green growth, summer remains comfortably warm, autumn is just beautiful with the color change of leaves, and winter is, well.... winter!

The Turf Motel welcomes groups, conventions, families or singles. The rates are very reasonable with our group paying an average of $59.00 per night for a king-sized bed. Breakfast is included in with your room and steak and omelets are on the buffet. The breakfast is just incredible! The Chef is always standing by if you should want your steak done a special way but I found it perfect as it was. (She is a really good cook, and a very nice lady to boot.) Located directly below the Lobby is the Turf Lounge which is a great place to relax, have a drink, or order your meal from The Rib Room to eat in or take home.

The Turf Motel is pet friendly with a $10.00 non-refundable deposit for the length of your stay. Not a bad price for being able to have your 'varmints' with you. There was plenty of room for my pooch carriers, making it easy to leave them while I checked out Charles Town proper, and then tried my luck on the One-Armed-Bandits at the Casino, (The Casino is located right behind the motel and during good weather this would be a pleasant walk).

The Charles Town area offers many chain hotels, (the Casino also has one), but the Turf Motel is all you will need and will become a favorite.

So, -- the Turf Motel offers beautiful countryside, great food, good location and is pet friendly. What more could you want? Well, -- maybe a longer stay-over. Next time you are anywhere near the Charles Town, West Virginia area plan to stop over at The Turf, I think you will enjoy the stay.
