Ask any famous person about the ugly side of fame and fortune and you will be surprised that they have few if not much to say about the downside of living life on easy street.
Here are five (5) downsides of fame and fortune
Tendency To Become A Recluse
There is always a tendency for people with money and popularity to live the life of a recluse because of reasons best known to them or because it is the only way to remain sane after spending time with backstabbing people all day.
Security Conscious
The safety of their kid(s), family members, and sometimes close friend(s) might be threatened by kidnappers and or deranged fans. John Lennon of the Beatles was shot by a fan. Famous people spend colossal sums on security for their families and themselves. It must be very tiring to always walk around with a body guard all the time, even while you are running mundane errands.
Being The Object of Gossip
Most celebrates will do anything to see that the tabloids are utterly wiped off the face of the earth. Gossip tabloids specialize on spreading sometimes baseless gossip and innuendos about local and international movie, music, and television stars. But they wouldn't succeed if they do not have a market for their magazines. Everyone wants to know:
Which star is having an affair with who
Which star is getting a divorce?
Which star has a naughty secret? etc.
Most people buy these tabloids so that they can have something to gossip about with their family, friends, and co-workers. It can be very disheartening to have unscrupulous people print lies about your life and charge other people to read it!
Being The Butt End of People's Cruel Jokes
No one wants to be laughed at, or made fun of. Rich and famous people are often the target of mean spirited jokes. The sad part is, having to watch the look of disgust on the faces of their kid(s) when he or she hears the mean jokes about mummy or daddy.
The Target of Sheer Hatred
Some stars are sent hate mails or have websites or chat rooms dedicated to them, for example: "I hate Miss X fan club". Some stars do not understand why people they hardly know will go through such lengths to prove their hatred of them. Is it jealousy?
You must understand that most rich and famous people crave for some of the stuff that ordinary folks take for granted. Having someone to talk to for example, many rich and famous folks have no one to share their most intimate secrets with because they are mostly surrounded by people who know the least but say the most. It is much better to be thankful and understand that with every success you make in life, there is always a price to pay.
