The Ultimate FREE Disney Gift - Your Own Disney Park!

No Strings Attached on This Amazing Free Disney Gift!

Michael Segers
The Disney folks have come up with a free gift that I (not exactly a fan of things Disney) cannot refuse, my own free Disney park for a year. Not exactly, but pretty close...

Go to this page and fill out the form, and Disney will generate a video, about two minutes long, in which your name (or the name of a friend, child, grandchild, whomever) appears on banners, signs, rides, teeshirts. A restaurant will even offer a dish named in your honor, since it is your park for a year (so they say).

Donald Duck is not too happy about your free Disney gift, raging about the "M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E" march being rewritten in your honor. As the Disney gang walks off, Goofy even says your name. Of course, being Goofy, he has rather limited language skills, so if your name is not very common, he will just refer to "our special friend."

I requested a video (that you can watch here) for Rudolph Reindeer, with congratulations on his recent promotion. (You can select from a variety of occasions.) Eeven Rudolph gets the "our special friend" treatment from Goofy, so if you send this free Disney gift to the title heroine of James McCourt's novel, Mawrdew Czgowchwz, don't expect Goofy to say her name, although she will get her own "M-A-W-R-D-E-W" (etc.) march!

The greeting sent with the link to the video comes with whatever name you put in the first blank of your contact information. So, if you want the message to come from "Grandpop" or "Aunt Ellen," you'll have to put that in the "First name" of your contact information. You may want to send all the links to yourself. Yyou can preview the videos and forward them without the recipients' email addresses being compromised, although Disney does give you the option to uncheck "Please provide me with exciting news and offers about Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts." You can even get the HTML coding to put the video onto a blog of other website.

As I said, I'm not a Disney fan, but I was so amused (and, frankly, amazed) by these videos that I have sent them to fellow scrooges and grinches, hoping they will ooh and aah as I did. With all the hoaxes and scams on the Internet, not to mention all the email forwards that are outright lies (which I have written about, here and here), these videos make you wonder if seeing is still believing. You may see a video of a Disney celebration of, well, of me, I hope you'll join me in laughng at it, but if you come across a video of me dancing around in an elf suit, hit the delete button fast!

I'm old enough to know better, but too young to admit it. I've been a teacher, owner of a sandwich shop, collector of neckties, acupuncture student. Now I get bossed around by my parrot and rejoice that I d...  View profile
