The Ultimate Guide to Making Your First Million Neopoints at Neopets.com

Penny Laine
I have been a member of Neopets.com for about 5 years now and I don't see an end to it in my near future. Go ahead and say that it is shallow, but the key to happiness on Neopets is neopoints. Whether you are just saving up your neopoints for fun or if you have an actual goal for a Neopets item that you would like to buy, you are in luck because I am going to fill you in on how to make neopoints quickly. Hopefully you will gain a better idea of how Neopets works and how to get yourself on the fast track to making millions of neopoints.

Open Up Shop

Once you have accumulated a couple hundred points, you should go straight to the Shops section. Click the second icon from the left that will look like a little house. This is where you open your own store. You will pick up a lot of freebies and other unwanted items along the way, your shop is a wonderful place to sell items that you have gotten for free or have gotten a good deal on from another shop.

Freebies

Every day there are a few freebies you can get through the site. I make a regular habit out of selling my freebies in my shop. Since your Neopets cannot starve to death, it will not matter if you sell the freebies in your shop to save up for something that you really want. I have all of the freebies bookmarked on my computer so I can go straight to them every time I feel like playing Neopets.

Referrals

Referrals are a decent way to earn neopoints. However, you shouldn't rely on referrals to make up even a percentage of your neopoint income unless you have a lot of friends that you know will join the site because you told them to. To find the link to send your friend their own Neopet and to find the link to use to refer other members, go to Pet Central link. You will get paid 100 neopoints for your first sign-up, 200 for the second, and 500 for the third. The more people you get to join the more points and rare items that you can get.

Bank on It

To get to the bank, go to Shops again. Go to the fifth link from the right that looks like a pillar. Once you open a bank account keep all of your money there. You can collect interest on it as you go. One major risk that you run on not having all of your neopoints in your bank account is Ghosts and the Tax Beast. Every once in a while they will come out and steal a few of your neopoints. So, just like in real life, keep your money in the bank to keep it safe and to earn a few extra points every day off of your interest.

Games

Games are where you will rake in the bulk of your Neopets income. Games range from action to adventure, back to puzzles, then off to the arcade classics. There's a game for everyone on Neopets. You can earn up to 3,000 points per day per game. The most points that you can earn in one play is 1,000 points, but you can play each game up to three times a day and still earn points for it. The sweetest deal for bringing in Neopoints on the game section is the Featured Game. On the Featured Game you earn twice as many points as you would have earned playing that game when it was not the Featured Game of the day.

Play the Stock Market

Once upon a time the link to the Stock Market was easy to find, but now it is not. For the stock market main page go to: http://neopets.com/stockmarket.phtml

This is where the big bucks are if you are willing to take a risk. You really should have at least 15,000 neopoints before you even dream about playing the Neopets Stock Market. Before you buy your stock, you need to go to click "Buy" then "Click to List". To buy stock, the symbol that you want to buy needs to be at least 15 neopoints. The first time you buy you will probably want to play it safe and buy one of these symbols that are at 15 points. You can only buy 1,000 stock shares a day. To avoid spending all of your earnings in commission, you should use your allotted 1,000 stocks on the same symbol. Even if it takes a couple of days, the stock will build up to more. In order to cash out, you have to already have 20 neopoints on you to pay the commission.

Once you get a good handle on the basics of the Neopets Stock Market and save up a pretty good amount of neopoints, you will want to move up to the more expensive stock. Sure you have to pay more, but the more expensive stock fluctuates more throughout the day than the cheaper stock. It might take a week or two for a 15 neopoint stock to move up to a 20 neopoint stock. One that is in the upper hundreds will change 20 to 50 points in a day. If you cash out at the right time you can make a whole lot of profit in just a matter of hours. Keep in mind that this is not real stock. There is not much rhyme or reason to the patterns in which they rise and fall so don't spend too much time trying to plan out which type of stock to buy.

Don't Waste Your Hard Earned Points!

Gambling: There are a lot of different activities on the Neopets website that require points to play. A lot of people have made a killing playing the gambling games, but I advise against it. After playing game after game after game, I usually end up breaking right about even or possibly losing even a couple thousand points gambling.

Fairy Quests: You will see links for Jhudora and Illusen asking for your help on quests. My advice to you is to never accept a quest from either of these ladies or any of the other fairies. You usually will spend a lot more neopoints on the item for your quest than your reward is worth.

Scams: I know it sounds like a no-brainer, but do not ever give your password out to anyone. Also, watch out when you try to buy items on auctions and on the Trading Post. Many people try to play off their worthless items as priceless jewels. Always check the shop wizard (the symbol that looks like a wizard's hat from the shop link) to see what items are really worth before you buy them.

I like how you say get your paws on stuff! It's really cute. Where can I buy these? Is there a pound for Neopets, like the ones that people don't want anymore ?
