The Ultimate Guide to the Top Hotels in Hawaii

Joe Davis
Hawaii is a place of exceptional beauty, tropical settings, and is the ultimate romantic getaway. Every island that makes up the chain is unique in its own special way but all the islands connect with that south pacific charm. The hotels on the islands should be nothing less than perfect to help compliment the natural beauty that the islands have to offer. I will show you a few of the top hotels on the main islands that will help make your trip burn into your memories.

The most populated and developed island in the chain is Oahu, which is the second most northern island. Oahu is a diverse island that has activities ranging from busy shopping areas and cities, to the relaxing north shore and its world famous swells. The JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa is located on the western side of the island and includes a private bay for hotel guests. The resort offers a tropical scenery and is still within close driving distance to Honolulu. The rooms are spacious and have balconies overlooking forest covered mountains or the deep blue Pacific Ocean. If you're looking for a classic Hawaiian vacation on Waikiki Beach but still want top of the line resources, then the Halekulani Hotel is for you. This beach side resort offers top of the line amenities and is still a place for the whole family to enjoy. Every room in the hotel offers a lanai with views of Waikiki or the famed Diamond Head volcano.

The Big Island of Hawaii is the largest of the group and is home to the only active volcano in the chain. The Island has dense tropical rain forests and pristine beaches, but still is located to a diverse amount of hotels. The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai is located on the Kona side of the island and every room has a view of the ocean. This elegant hotel is secluded away from crowded areas but is still within close range to many amenities. The hotel features a private Jack Nicklaus signature golf course that all hotel guests can reserve ahead of time, or the spa is open to any members that fell the need to relax on their trip. Another getaway on the big island is the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, which is great for families or a isolated escape for two. The Hapuna Beach right out front is considered to be the top beach on the island and offers calm turquoise waters. The rooms offer spectacular views and the service is second to none.

The island of Maui is a very popular spot for travelers because it offers the laid back attitude of Hawaii but has some modern amenities. There are a very large amount of resorts on this island that all have their own advantages but a few stick out above the rest. The Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea is a luxurious resort along a white sand beach on the sunniest side of the island. The resort offers some of the most spacious rooms on the island and is covered in top of the line facilities. The Fairmont Kea Lani is located on the powdery Polo Beach on the dry southwest side of the island. The resort offers three tropical pools, eleven tennis courts, and a program to entertain the kids all day while the parents go off for a peaceful day at the full-service spa.

Kauai is the least developed island of the chain but still offers top of the line resorts and has the best views on the all the islands hands down. The island ranges from the dry and sunny south side to the lush tropical jungles and mountains of the north side. A top of the line resort that works into the forested north side is the Princeville Resort located just east of Hanalei Bay. This resort offers high quality service and an infinity pool that looks over the bay into a sun setting above the famed peaks of Bali Hai. The service at this resort is so committed that they hand you your key as soon as you step out of your car making no need to go to the front desk to check in. If you prefer to stay and the sunny south shore then the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa is for you. This resort includes both salt water and fresh water pools, and is open to a spectacular beach that is an excellent body surfing sight. The large resort includes spacious rooms and the on site restaurants are good quality and reasonably priced.

All the islands of Hawaii offer a magical place to visit whether it is the busy city on Honolulu right off Waikiki or the jagged mountain peaks of Kauai. Each island has top of the line resorts, but still have reasonably priced accommodations if you are traveling on a budget. No matter where you stay or what island you visit, Hawaii is always going to hold a place in your heart.
