The Ultimate Quick and Easy Lasagna Recipe: Impress a Date with Italian!

Nicky B
I have never been able to duplicate my Nana's lasagna recipe. My Nana was a wonderful cook. She lived to cook. I don't think that I ever saw her leave the kitchen. Of course she made her sauces from scratch. She had an enormous garden where she grew her tomatoes, spices and veggies.

However, I have been able to make a mouth watering lasagna. One that is just as fattening and makes my guest go back for seconds. Here is what you will need:

1 package of pre-cooked lasagna noodles
1 lb ground sirloin
1/2 lb Italian Sausage
1 small onion
1 green pepper
1 Fresh garlic finely chopped
1 jar of Paul Newman's Sockarooni Sauce
1 16 oz ricotta
1 16 oz cottage cheese small curd
1 3 cup mozzarella cheese
1 egg
Parmesan Cheese

You will need the following at hand:
Oregano
Basil
Salt
Pepper

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

In a skillet brown meat. Add garlic, onion and green pepper. Cook until done. Once finished add in sauce. Now it is time to add in your spices. The sauce is tasty enough. So at this point it is all about your taste buds. Add a lot or add nothing.

In a separate bowl mix together the cottage cheese, ricotta cheese and egg.

In a 9x13 pan spread some of the sauce on the bottom of the pan. Since the noodles do not need to be cooked put 3 down on the bottom of the pan. Now spread evenly the meat/sauce mix over the noodles. Once this is done you will now need to put the ricotta mix down. Don't use to much as this will melt while cooking. I recommend that you use a heaping tablespoon 2 times per noodle. Then sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese. Then repeat the above. You should be able to get a total of 3 layers.

Cook for approx. 1 hour or until cheese on top is golden brown.

Great with a salad and Texas toast garlic bread

Total prep time is approx. 30 minutes
