The Ultimate Treasures of Tokuno Guide

The Easy Way to Earn Treasures of Tokuno Artifacts and Blackrock

T.Smith
The Treasures of Tokuno is an event in Ultima Online that will only be active until the end of July. During that month, you will have a limited chance to earn both minor and major artifacts in Tokuno including new rare dyes and blackrock. What many players don't know is how to maximize their chances at getting an artifact without using illegal scripting programs or breaking the game's rules. My guide will show you how to get the most out of the Treasures of Tokuno event and get artifacts without going crazy and camping monsters all day or using illegal third party scripts. UPDATED: How to get Leurocian's Mempo of Fortune

By using the ideas in this article, you can stock up on all the new Tokuno dyes and obtain a full set of both the minor and major rewards without having to buy them in Luna for outrageous prices or invest massive amounts of time. This method is the best and has been proven over and over again by the best players for earning Tokuno Artifacts and Dyes.

To make the most of Treasures of Tokuno, it's important to understand how the event works. First, the higher the level of fame the monster has, the higher your chances will be to receive an artifact. Also, each time you kill a monster you receive points toward earning an artifact that build up until you receive an artifact or blackrock.

So for example you could kill cranes all day on the outskirts of Zento but it would take thousands of them to receive an artifact, each dead crane would yield 1 point based on the creature's low fame. If you have luck armor use it, also give your lucky statue a rub before you head out. The best items will be received by fighting more difficult creatures, instead of focusing on luck you could use a suit that gives your character high resistance and bonuses to stats and regeneration, for unlimited, fast killing.

A level 3 fame creature such as an earth elemental will yield approximately 3-4 artifacts an hour if you can kill them quickly. Level 4 fame creatures will yield 4-5 artifacts an hour while level 5 creatures such as succubus, balrons, lady of the snow will give 5 or more artifacts an hour. For a list of creatures and their fame levels see the UO Stratics hunter's guide: http://uo.stratics.com/hunters/index.shtml

You should kill the most difficult Tokuno creature you can as often as you can. The rule of thumb is, kill the highest fame creature that you can kill as fast as it can spawn. You should see no less than thirty corpses on the ground at all times. If you cannot kill a monster fast enough to cover the ground in corpses as fast as the creature can spawn, find something less difficult, remember it's all in the numbers and the points are cumulative. Each character skill set will have a most effective way to fight monsters without going crazy, here are some proven methods for tamers, mages, melee warriors and archers.

Easy Mage Tamer Guide:

Locate your ideal monster; bring either a Cu'sidhe or Greater Dragon. Cu'sidhes are very effective killers because they are tough, heal themselves and have the bleed attack. A Cu'sidhe is capable of slashing through daemons, fan dancers easily in the Fan Dancer Dojo. Greater Dragons are beneficial because they kill mobs quickly but you will have to heal a greater dragon from time to time, whereas a Cu'sidhe will heal itself. Another benefit of using the Cu'sidhe is that you can also ride a mount, for a fast get away.

Find a nice secluded corner and start killing. If you have UO Assist and a keyboard or gaming pad with macro capability you can create a simple macro to automate your Treasures of Tokuno killing spree, do not use this method unattended as it is against the rules and you will likely die as other players spot you and lure monsters to you. If another player comes around, greet them and be nice, most of the time, they will leave you alone if they see that you are not afk (away from keys) or scripting.

Assuming that you're going to use the method attended, you should encounter no problems, but use at your own risk. Create a UO Assist macro that does this: say "all follow me", say "all guard me", cast invisibility, use a delay of 45,000. Every 45 seconds, your character will tell the pet to guard and follow, making sure it does not wander too far away, because the pet is guarding you, you will get credit for whatever the pet kills.

Make sure that you keep the protection spell up so that your invisibility spell will not be interrupted if you are attacked. Again you will want to watch the macro, especially if you are fighting daemons because they cast poison. Having a secondary macro to heal you and cast invisibility is also a good idea. If you have a gaming keyboard or pad, you can set it up so that your UO Assist macro will loop or work on a key press. This makes the entire process a lot less difficult and click intensive which makes getting the Treasures of Tokuno more fun.

The Easy Mage Guide:

Simply, locate the most difficult monster that you can kill with two EV's (Energy Vortex spell) in under 30 seconds and set up a Ultima Online Assist macro to cast Energy Vortex and target a relative location (mining) on a keystroke. Then use invisibility and watch as the bodies hit the floor and the Treasures of Tokuno artifacts fly into your backpack.

Some of the best spots for a mage include the Champion Spawn area or Valley of the Sleeping Dragon, The Fan Dancer Dojo (level 2), and the peninsula south east of the Champion Spawn area. If you have necromancy and poisoning, you will be extra effective in the Champion Spawn area. What you will want to do is to cast the poison field spell, round up monsters and then cast the necromancy spell wither, while in wraith form. You will have unlimited mana, as each monster you strike in the area of effect, gives you mana. The earthquake spell is especially good for necromancer mages because you can draw in every monster on the screen and then kill it with the wither spell. Make sure that you keep the protection spell up so that you will not be interrupted as you try to cast your spells.

This is one of the most effective ways that a mage can work a champion spawn area. In addition to your broad choices in area of effect spells, you can also use energy vortex to deliver a powerful punch and keep the points rolling in toward your next ToT (Treasures of Tokuno) artifact. Another advantage to working the champion spawn area in Tokuno is that you have a good chance to receive transcendence scrolls and replicas, including the decorative futon which is a much sought after high ticket item. By working the champion spawn you could become an instant, Ultima Online multi-millionaire if you're lucky enough to get a futon.

At the Fan Dancer Dojo, level two, the best room hands down for a mage is the area where the two daemons, horde minions and headless ones spawn. Two energy vortexes will keep this room clear of monsters as fast as they spawn. Because daemons have level 4 fame, you will receive artifacts at an insane rate. If this area is camped, which it often is, just find a nice corner and where one fan dancer spawns and cast two EV's. Never use poison or poison field on a Fan Dancer because they will retaliate by repeatedly throwing fans at you and believe me they hurt!

The Easy Melee Warrior and Archer Method:

Simply, go where you can to kill monsters quickly and effectively with a slayer weapon and let auto-attack kill your monsters for you as your Treasures of Tokuno fill your backpack. If you have the ninjitsu skill, you can go into dog form to heal at a fast rate as you hunt. If you are a necromancer, use the horrific beast form to boost melee damage and healing. Otherwise set up a simple Ultima Online Assist macro like this to keep yourself healed with bandages: Use item (type) bandages, target (self), pause 7,500 seconds. You can set this up just as the tamer guide suggested, to work with a keystroke or to loop through your keyboard or gaming pad on a timer.

One of the best places for a melee warrior who is trying to get weapons skills and tactics and find Treasures of Tokuno is off of earth elementals at the Yomotsu Mines. Just inside the entrance to the cave, is a consistent spawn of Earth and Dull Copper Elementals. If your skill is above 80, you can raise it to 100-120 off of earth elementals and the Yomotsu warriors in the cave. More seasoned warriors, do well in the Sleeping Dragon Champion Spawn area. If you have a reptile slaying weapon and a conjurer's trinket you can slay lizardmen, lesser and greater hiryu's quickly and revenant dragons. When the oni spawn, switch to a demon slaying weapon and you will be on your way to massive Tokuno slaughter.

Archers make quick work of rune beetles and evil mages. Because evil mages die in one hit to a skilled archer and have level 4 fame, they are ideal hunting. Just be watchful of the rune beetles, as several of them casting spells can become dangerous even if you are well equipped and skilled.

No matter what your skills are, you can earn massive amounts of Treasures of Tokuno artifacts and dyes through skillful play and intelligently designed macros without resorting to illegal programs and scripts. The key to Tokuno success is to match your skills and abilities to the highest famed monster that you can kill in the shortest amount of time. Happy ToTing!

Leurocian's Mempo of Fortune

The elusive minor artifact Leurocian's Mempo of Fortune, is highly sought after and rarely drops as a regular Treasure of Tokuno. Some players say that out of 600 minor artifacts, they have only found one Leurocian's Mempo of Fortune. However, the Shadowlords drop them at a much higher rate than regular monsters, approximately 1 out of 20 kills. Instead of paying 15,000,000 gold for a mempo in Luna, try your luck at the Shadowlords! The Manifestations of the Shadowlords are now appearing every two hours in the Waste, Mt. Sho and Winterspur.
