The Unabridged Version of Consciousness

A Trip into the Mind of Extremes

Heather Dekin

Ideas passing by at the speed of fingers on a keyboard

Thoughts bouncing around like small metal balls

In an old run-of-the-mill arcade pinball machine

Nearing the big score of the day or another loss

Brainstorms getting dried up like the world's water supply

A supply that only get replenished with an overdose

Of Freudian ego along an added dose of vitamins

When confidence drains with in life's colander

The story freezes in midair and gets stagnant

When ignored it defrosts and fades away into nothing

Luckily, polar icecaps cool down and remerge into a killer story

Starting again from scratch and ending in the same result as before

A never-ending revolver of mental snacks without nourishment

Flicking the intelligence light switch for tonight

Needing to relax and laughingly sniff the damn roses for once

Instead of thinking about it

A penny for someone's thoughts, please

At this rate there will be enough pennies to make a dollar

Sorry, this brain bank is closed for the night

No service until tomorrow morning.
