The Unanswered Questions from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Is Book 7 Enough?

Danielle Friedl
The truth is finally out and millions of Muggles know the fate of their favorite boy wizard. But what about everyone else? Sure we got a glimpse into the future and got a very small taste of what happened to Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny but hardly enough information on them specifically and what's become of some of our other favorites. It's nice to know that it ended the way it should have but there's more to a finale then simply the end. For a decade we've followed the lives of not just Harry and his two best friends but of extended family and close buddies and we deserve to know what happened to them as well!

Starting with the main characters - what do Harry, Ron, Hermione and Ginny do for a living? What career path did they eventually choose? Hermione hardly seems the stay-at-home-mom type. Ron and Ginny's father worked for the Ministry and perhaps they followed along and turned it around so that it actually worked for the wizarding community instead of against it. With the eyes of the wizarding world on Harry for the better part of his life it would be more like him to take a job where he's not a public figure. JKR mentions that he may make appearances at Hogwarts for an occasional Defense Against the Dark Arts lecture but with Voldemort gone it doesn't seem likely that the class is all that useful anymore. Do he and Ginny make their home at Grimmauld Place or do they move closer to the Burrow?

Then there's the Weasley clan. With Fred gone how does George go on without his twin? Does George continue his pranks store in the name of his fallen brother? It seems that their brilliance was born between the two of them and without the other one to draw ideas from and be a bit of a partner in crime it may be hard for George to make it. How does Fred's death affect Percy, who defected from his family only to rejoin the fight and then watch his brother die? With his insider knowledge of the Ministry there is hope that perhaps he'll turn it around and actually make a decent Minister. Bill and Fleur evidently have a daughter and Charlie is probably still in Romania with the dragons.

What happened to Luna and Dean? Did they ride off on thestrals into the sunset? Does he help her finally track down a Crumple-Horned Snorkack? Does he completely win her over by unmasking the Nargles? It might have been nice to see a fair-haired child appear on the Hogwarts Express along with the Potter and Weasley kids. We know Draco Malfoy got married and had at least one child, as he and 'his wife' are there to see their son off, but with his father's track record in the Ministry it's likely that the whole Malfoy family has been blacklisted from a job there.

In a recent interview with The Today Show's Meredith Viera, JK Rowling hints at an encyclopedia of sorts to perhaps give answers to many of these questions. Hopefully it will be chock full of past, present and future information on some of our favorite characters with many fascinating details that will keep Harry Potter living in our minds forever.

neville was able to pull the sword out of the sorting hat, just like harry did in the chamber of secrets, and dumbledore said "help will always be given to those at Hogwarts, to those who need it", and neville clearly was in need of something, and the sorting hat was right there infront of him. duh.

my question is about the sword of gryffindor. how did neville get it to destroy nagini since it was last seen in the possesion of griphook the goblin who had snatched it from potter at gringotts?
