The classic décor gives The Underground a warm and comfortable feeling. Crisp white tablecloths give each booth a clean feeling. Each table is finished with a candle lit votive for the perfect cozy ambiance.
"We come here once a year to celebrate our anniversary and we look forward to it all year long. We love the atmosphere and that we're able to enjoy a quiet evening together," stated a married couple who were dining at the restaurant.
You are sure to find something perfect on the menu whether it is for the children in the family or if you're enjoying a special occasion steak dinner. Meals are expertly prepared and are made to your specifications. Appetizers arrive early while the main course arrives just in time.
The recommended plate that seems to be the most popular choice is the sirloin steak dinner served with a choice of two sides and a salad. A complimentary loaf of sour dough bread is served prior to the main course.
A separate dessert menu is provided offering anything from ice cream to various pies and cakes.
The prices at The Underground are comparable to other local fine dining restaurants. A couple spending a romantic dinner together should expect to pay between $60 and $80 for a steak dinner, appetizer and non-alcoholic drinks. A full bar is available for those who favor the taste of hard beverages.
Service at The Underground is flawless. The staff are quick to address the needs of the patrons and are knowledgeable about every dish on the menu. Quick to seat guests and pleasant in manner, the host or hostess, waiter or waitress seems to make the restaurant flow nicely. And while they are always close at hand to attend to needs, they aren't overbearing and allow the meal and dining experience to be enjoyed.
The Underground is often over looked by local diners as it is nestled within a local hotel establishment. However, it should remain on the top list of places to dine in Richmond, Indiana with its quiet and relaxing atmosphere and excellent meal choices.
