I spent a few days letting that comment work. It festered, it brewed, it was contemptable, yet somehow a thought was beginning to emerge. I began to realize, thanks to this "anti" war activist that I was seeing the actual conceptual differences between an American Uniformed Service Member as opposed to that character/motivation of a terrorist/suicide bomber from some fanatical religious sect or from a nation that fuels similar such fervor as if it were a will enacted by some "god" of their understanding. (yes, I know I left a door ajar there. I want you to come thru it. I am ready for you)
I began to see that a Troop from the United States not only is accountable for his/her actions but he or she even holds him/her self accountable for those actions. Troops from the US are not trying to die. Those fanatics are. The fanatics are not to face the tide of opinion for their actions. They are gone. They are not here any more to experience the result of their aggression. American troops are not only still here, but they even must face a torrent of judgement and much even from those who are not qualified to understand, and much of that will come from their own countrymen. The very mouths that American Troops protect and keep safe will often be their staunchest critics.
The terrorist counterpart on the other hand does not face their enemy, they explode devices of destruction upon unsuspecting innocents as well as themselves. They sneak about by infiltration of themselves into the population, they actually assimilate themselves into the lives of their very victims, then they mercilessly and with malice do not remain behind after their barbaric actions to face the retribution of the judgements for their criminally psychotic actions. They take the cowardly fatalist pathetic path of suicide, hiding in corners with detonators and so forth. They do not face their enemy, they shield themselves with their very targets who are far often extremely innocent of the wrath of the terrorist-for, the terrorist's whole war is within his/her own head. No other person on earth is responsible for their condition or sentiments.
American Troops are announced, uniformed, allied, they fight to remain alive and to free those whom are oppressed. One Us Army motto is Oppresso Di Liberatti which means "Free The Oppressed".
The terrorists are un-announced, un-uniformed, they have no alliance so their numbers are small and they represent no-other than themselves, they try to die and they seek to oppress others to their fascist ideals.
There are stark differences, radiant contrasts, and their legions and the individual appointments are signatures to ideals that they effort to force feed upon people. The very fact that they must resort to fisting fear into the populace is the signature that their mission is one of oppression. If the message was the right one people would not need to be driven by fear into submission to it and those that convey it would not have to hide and exterminate themselves in order to deliver it.
I see that we must assign ourselves to which ideals we believe in and then do so staunchly. Lukewarm is not a position in these days. These days require a distinct definition of purpose based upon belief. I know that I have had to seek what I believe in via what I have learned and been taught. And, just like not spending money is not always the same as saving it. Not fighting a war is not always the right way to keep peace.
I see a sect of people on this planet spreading hate, violence and fear and they cannot even find enough people among their own communities to sustain themselves so they resort to terror not only against their percieved enemy, but against their own brethren! I also see an allied group of people who are fighting for and believe in the right of men and women to choose. As I read my informative sources, I understand that the right to choose and the right of freewill were bestowed upon us by our creator. Therefore I am inclined to support those who are supporting that which was given me by my creator.
I have read that we will know it by it's works. We have but to look at the works. That is how we will know. Suicide is not a principal of honor, to lay down one's life so that his brother may live is. I have just to look at the works. It is that simple.
When looking at them I must assign divine principle to that observation and I will know if the works are good works or bad works.
I Support Our Troops. I know them. They are US and I can see by our works that we are the United States of America and we do hold each other accountable. That, my friend, is "good works" and I honor that some among us will hold us accountable because that is a fundamental difference between us and our enemy. Our population has a voice with which to hold me accountable. And, I am proud to say they recieved that from me.

Some distinctions that I make might be difficult for a layman to understand. Perhaps I took some things for granted in my dispensations regarding what people could grasp and how much information was needed in order to convey those distinctions. I am not sure how to reach one who may wish to understand, but does not possess the elemental information necessary to grasp it. The facts are different one as applied to the other regarding a terrorist and a uniformed, announced organized force. A terrorist represents himself. A US Soldier, for example represents all the nation. A terrorist is so dubbed because he needs to resort to terror to gain followers as opposed to an announced warrior supports the announced wishes of the people. Look more into the intrinsic and the elemental foundations. A terrorist adopts a deviated form of religion and then hi-jacks it subsequently acting in it's name to further a mad ambition. A Soldier/warrior acts to do well for the greater good of the mass of the p
Some of the distinctions you are making between US troops and terrorists are kind of inconsequential if you ask me Daniel. Who cares if they are uniformed or not, or announced or not--both are deployed to kill other human beings. It can easily be argued that dropping bombs from thousands of miles in the air is a terrorist act, or busting down doors in baghdad for that matter, are terrorist acts done by announced and uniformed troops. But, I think there is a limit to the accountability of US troops, because they are only following orders and do not choose the wars they fight, and for teh most part, the people they kill. Your romanticization of the American warrior is a sad example of the distorted view Americans have of warfare. Read my article NY Giants, Smart Bombs, the Hero Warrior and the Death of our Humanity.
