It's amazing to read of the billions of dollars poured into so-called Border Security with Mexico. Here we are, dumping copious amounts of cash into programs and technologies meant to keep out people who are truly following the American dream.
The "illegal immigrants" that enter the U.S. through the U.S. - Mexico border every year are here primarily to get a ridiculously low wage job that no other American would take, in order to send the money back home. Nothing about that is dishonest, threatening, or detrimental to the U.S. economy save perhaps the fact that the money earned is being sent out of the country. That one minor defect can be solved by annexing Mexico. That way, the money will stay within the U.S. contributing wholly to the U.S. economy.
These illegal aliens cross scorching deserts, evade zealous U.S. Border Patrol officers, travel (usually) more than 100 miles on foot and brave grievous injury and even death to come to the U.S. for a…job? Name one terrorist who went through all that to come to the U.S. just to get an honest job. The U.S. does a better job of keeping illegal immigrants from Mexico out than it does keeping terrorists out.
One might argue that annexing Mexico we're simply pushing the barrier to a different location. That's true to a certain extent. However, Mexico is bordered on one side by the U.S. On another side is the Pacific Ocean. On a third side is the Gulf of Mexico, and the fourth border would be a patch of rugged mountains and forests near Guatemala, about 750 miles long. Compare the 2000 miles long border with a stretch of land 750 miles long, which do you think would be easier to watch and secure? No brainer, eh? Also, ocean is much harder to come by than land, so the two bodies of water on Mexico's right and left side would be highly desirable obstacles.
Obviously the cameras, guards and patrol vehicles would need to be relocated to what is currently Mexico's southern border. All Mexicans would immediately become U.S. citizens, but that is not a problem. Mexicans are generally hard-working, modest, and not trying to murder Americans. The current Mexican president would be more like a governor, and we could add Mexico as one state, or divide it into two or more.
With the increasing amount of money being spent on border security with Mexico for a almost worthless cause, it makes perfect sense to try and annex Mexico. The last time the U.S. annexed a new land was in 1898 (Hawaii, Guam etc) so it's about time we added to the U.S. holdings.
Besides, Mexican food and drink is tasty.
You may laugh now.

Post a CommentAnnex Mexico?
Makes sense to me.
From the opinions offered by el majoria de mis amigos del sur de la frontera.......they think it might be a good idea too!
It would be a challenge to transition Mexico from "might makes right" to "rule of law", but I believe its necessary for the survival of everyone in North America.
The rest of us nortenos cannot allow Mexico to sink any lower into chaos and depravity.
Viva NAFTA......yes.......thats right........Viva NAFTA.
I'm a mexican guy living in Mexico in an important industrial city (Toluca), I think that would be excellent for my country, It would help regional stability and I think the best thing would be you to annex all the region down to the Panama Channel, thus reducing the border even more, However to avoid the cultural shock for your citizens, due to the fact that Mexico is a developing country and to avoid a full scale immigration English should be made the sole official language for anyone wishing to go north but not the opposite in a similar fashion than Puerto Rico
And of course the proccess should be done step by step with a constant monitoring.
Excellent idea, NO AMNESTY WITHOUT ANNEXATION!
It would be a gigantic win for everyone(except Mexico's ruling class because under US law they would be required to pay taxes hehe). It would end the fears of a NAU(North American Union) that would circumvent the US Constitution(which is a pretty awesome Constitution).
But it would take probably like 10 years of development before the borders could really be open though, or the upper states(as they would be called), would be totally flooded by Mexicans trying to get out of a bad situation(which would be a nightmare for both the upper and lower states, as the former nation of Mexico needs those people for industrial development).
Also need an Amendment to the US constitution making the US a bilingual English-Spanish nation(kind of like Canada).
Sorry for the necro but awesome idea.
Wow, I've actually considered this myself in the past. A great idea overall, however I fear that Mexico's current drug war and Mexican nationalists would make it very hard to annex the whole country :P Perhaps a better idea would be to help industrialize the nation to the level of the U.S. (Mexico is already the most industrialized Latin nation, and contains several large cities comparable to the lower class regions in America, an example being The Bronx), and then to create a very close relationship with our southern neighbor, such as the one we share with Canada. This would allow us to gain a close ally, and perhaps not only provide Mexicans with jobs at home, but maybe even allow americans to seek jobs on the other side of the border! (not common at this time). I really don't know how to solve this problem, but you're idea sounds great!
The age-old pesky U.S.-Mexico border problem has taxed the resources of both countries, led to long lists of injustices, and appears to be heading only for worse troubles in the future. Guess what? The border problem can never be solved. Why? Because the border IS the problem! It's time for a paradigm change.
Never fear, a satisfying, comprehensive solution is within reach: the Megamerge Dissolution Solution. Simply dissolve the border along with the failed Mexican government, and megamerge the two countries under U.S. law, with mass free 2-way migration eventually equalizing the development and opportunities permanently, with justice and without racism, and without threatening U.S. sovereignty or basic principles.
Google "Megamerge Dissolution Solution".

Do you have a point? If so state it clearly because you just made yourself look dumb, not me. Thanks for reading.
Unfortunately, I just now found this piece but some other things to think about are the facts that Mexico is rich in opportunities in land for oil and gas exploration, real estate, education opportunities, city infrastructure building, highways and road building, police, military and much more.
Politically, give them 5 states and 5 senators. Pay off the current president and some of the top politicos to step down and not re-enter politics.
I am not aware of any other Oil company in Mexico other than Pemex. Mexico and it's gulf is rich in oil and gas deposits and would provide the US with a very large resource. Create some competition by allowing other Oil and Gas companies to go in there and drill. You would see a huge jump in the production of hydrocarbons and the price would drop.
The real estate opportunities are immense. Every American has dreamed of living on a beach, in the mountains or a jungle.
Building schools, colleges and training centers would provide educatio
Amen to the anexation of Mexico, we should have done it in the 1820's with the mexican american war!!!!!!!!!
Why stop at Mexico LETS ANNEX THE ENTIRE CENTRAL AMERICA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lets ANNEX all of the Carribean and Jamacia Then NUKE CUba and sink the entire island under the sea THEN SOUTH AMERICA
