Lance Corporal Jessie Adam Cassada, 19, of Hendersonville, N.C. was a recent graduate of East Hendersonville High School, class of 2007, when he entered the Marines in order to follow a "family tradition." He was then assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. and deployed to Afghanistan in November 2008, where he was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom at the time of his death-January 6, 2009.

Jessie was issued numerous awards during his time in the marines, including the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

Today friends, family, and associates (including this author) remember Jessie as a remarkable "southern gentleman" who not only loved his friends and family, but enjoyed life to the fullest. They say his fun loving personality made him a joy to know.

Jessie was proceeded in death by his father the late Ronnie Cassada in 2006 and is survived by his mother Pat Cassada, his step-father Carroll London, three biological sisters Amy Cambell (Madison Heights, Va.), Crystal Cassada Vargas (Hendersonville, NC) and her husband Jose, and Lisa Cassada (Hendersonville, NC) , three step brothers Scott Camp (Hendersonville), Quentin London (Hendersonville), and Dylan Montgomery (Ohio), and four step-sisters Kristie Williams (Hendersonville) Starla Montgomery (Texas), Karin Montgomery (Ohio), Elizabeth Montgomery (Ohio); along with a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.
