The Unknown Dangers of Caffeine

Starlite
Caffeine is consumed by the gallon in this society of coffee shops on every corner and the 60 hour work week. All those cups of java could be doing more harm than good . Caffeine does more than give you a little jolt of energy, according to ABC online, caffeine is a strong diuretic. It makes the consumer urinate more because the flow is increased through the kidneys. Caffeine also has an effect on mental abilities. A study done on three groups of people, revealed that the group that was given high doses of caffeine did not perform well on verbal reasoning tasks. How many of us can actually afford to not think clearly in the morning? Between driving in rush hour traffic and the ever present cell phone, society needs to be on their toes. The next time you find that you are reaching for another cup of coffee, ask yourself if the effects are worth it.

Of course some people are addicted to that morning cup of joe, but have no fear. There are many healthy alternatives that will give you that nice little boost of energy when you need it the most. Switch from hot coffee to ice cold orange juice. While many orange juices are also filled with sugar, natural orange just such as simply orange is a great alternative with extra health benefits such as lowering your risk of heart disease. An even better fruit juice to include in your morning routine is pomegranate juice. In a recent study, scientists discovered that the nutrients found in pomegranate juice actually helped reduce the amount of fatty deposits on artery walls. Your coffee certainly can't do that.

Pomegranate juice can be found in supermarkets in every town. Once a nearly impossible liquid to buy, today pomegranate juice is more popular than ever. If you want to add a little something extra to this artery wall cleaning drink then consider looking at fresh fruit to add a little natural sweetness. Fresh, ripe strawberries are a great accompaniment to pomegranate juice. Strawberries are sweet while pomegranate juice is somewhat tart. When mixed together you have a perfect combination with healing power. If you want to make your drink into a full meal then try adding nonfat vanilla yogurt and some ice cubes. Mix on high for about 30 seconds and you suddenly have a healthy breakfast that will beat any cup of coffee.
