About three weeks ago, on December 11, we witnessed a really rare event here. It snowed, and we were all giddy like little kids. It was lots of fun, but it was just a one-day thing apparently. Because today we were in the 60s and 70s and people dressed in short-sleeves.
And you just can't predict what's going to happen unless you watch the weather news. I don't want to watch the weather on TV - it seems like a waste of time. Why can't we have Winter, Spring, Summer and then Fall like they said we would back in elementary school? They promised me pretty, predictable weather and now look at this. In the last few weeks I think we've gone from Summer to Winter to Spring back to Summer again.
I know that the weather in southern California is really predictable and very nice. The weather up in Etah, Greenland(which is northernmost settlement in the world) is very predictable but miserable except a few days of summer. So you can't complain if you live in San Diego or L.A. You don't have to pay for air conditioning and heating either. Those people should feel fortunate - every day it's nice and sunny. Traffic isn't so pleasant though.
This erratic weather here makes people get sick faster, I believe. You could say it's only predictable, though, in the climax of the summer - July, August, September. But at that time it might just start pouring rain really hard for no reason. And during those months it's just so humid and hot that you sweat without moving.
Nowadays, though, in the so-called wintertime, you frequently see people either underdressed or overdressed. It's a good idea to keep an extra light jacket with you in the car. An umbrella is a good idea too, but I personally prefer to just run with a newspaper atop.
So if you live in a place with predictable weather, count that as one of your blessings. Your body gets used to it and you feel fairly comfortable because you know what to expect. Overall, though, I guess you get used to anything, even if it's randomness, and we're fairly adaptive people over here.
