Just short of a year on the market with captivating success, the iPhone is ready for a revamp. The greatly praised gadget has been said to be a work in progress as new software and technology becomes available.

The current models have also been criticized for a 2G wireless connection that is likely to be upgraded the 3G with the new release. The previous generation of iPhone was also unattractive to tech buyers, being unable to use Flash.

With greater speed and compatibility, the iPhone will be open to a wider range of third party developed software.

Apple is also expected to announce a series of deals with mobile carriers in countries around the world. With prices rumored to be affordable and competitive when purchased with a contract, we could see the iPhone 2 with a lower than expected price tag.
