One of the best uses for tripods when camping is to incorporate their presence when cooking over an open campfire. A large tripod that is placed over the flame can hold a large cooking pot suspended by it's handle and a rope or piece of wire, and is great for making soups or stews without being constantly tended to. This use for tripods when camping can also allow a camp cook to create separate dishes simultaneously, or to keep food warm in a pot suspended from the tripod when another dish is prepared in a skillet on the fire below. A camping tripod used over a flame can also heat water to warm for bathing, which is a huge aid to comfort on a cold morning in camp.
Another of the great uses for tripods when camping is to hold photography equipment such as a camera steady while taking wildlife photographs. A tripod can be used when camping to hold a lantern or radio at a slightly elevated level to maximize their benefits by projecting light or sound further than they normally would. A camping table is an excellent use for tripods when camping and is easily fashioned very quickly. Between 4 tripods place two long branches in equal distances apart long-wise, and then place smaller sticks across the longer branches and tie them to make a most useful table. A rope tied between two tripods makes and excellent clothesline to dry clothes or bedding when camping as well.
The uses for tripods when camping is only limited by the imagination of a given camper, but there is a common theme to using tripods when camping. Make certain that when you make tripods they are tied securely together at the top to prevent breaking, and make certain the feet are pointed to prevent slipping.
