Writing it down can help us remember those little things we need to remember such as doctors appointments, vaccinations, and so many other little things. Now we can call it a household journal and this is helpful if you are married or single.
You could grab a big journal, but a notebook will serve the same purpose and generally, they are cheaper to purchase for those of us on limited budgets. As long as the notebook has at least 400 pages, you are set.
When you begin this household diary or journal which ever you prefer to call it, it is important to know what will fit in there. A general rule of thumb is everything that is important needs to be in there, this will eliminate second-guessing on the important stuff.
One thing I would also purchase is a pen that writes four colors, the blue could be for bills, the red could be for medical, the green could be food, and the black could be for general stuff. This way your household diary is color-coded and you can tell at a glance when something like a medical event happened.
Write when the children or pets get vaccinations or see a doctor and write about the visit. This way you know when an event happened and you will not be second-guessing anything. Also, be sure to add any medications or special advice, which was given.
You also can write about service or complaint calls, this way you know exactly when you called. Just note, whom you talked with, the time and the basics of the call.
Record all your bills that come in daily, and when you pay them mark that in the household diary. This way you know exactly when the bills were paid to avoid over charging and late payments.
You can include special information like when you got special papers such as a social security card, and drivers' license, new car insurance, include the policy number of all insurances so you have that information at a glance.
You could also use the last few pages to jot down ideas for vacations or rainy day ideas, birthday gifts for other family members, or even special dinners or dates.
These notebooks can be handy to remember all those things and so much more. With a household diary, you will instantly be reminded of those important things you need to know.
Just remember to clearly date the pages and keep this household diary in a safe place, so it is not ruined and you will see why it is important to keep one.
