The Vampire Diaries certainly has all the elements needed for a fun-filled romp into the dark world of vampires and the legends behind these usually glorious creatures. I mean, outside of the "Underworld" series, have you ever seen a non-gorgeous vampire? If the vamps on Vampire Diaries are any indication, then vampires are obviously very picky about aesthetics of their victims when they are deciding whether to 'turn' them into vampires or not.
And there are certainly Greek god gorgeous vampire brothers that are central to The Vampire Diaries storyline. Stefan Salvatore, played by Paul Wesley, has these amazing eyes and a penetrating stare that just pierces directly into one's soul. We know at this point from Vampire Diaries previews, that Stephan falls for our heroine Elena in a big way as soon as those eyes spot her.
Stephan is also a 200 year old vampire, a learned historian and does not drain humans for food. The Vampire Diaries casting call for the part of Stephan called for: "A gloriously, amazingly, epicly beautiful young man, elegant and ageless, he appears to be 17 or 18, but he's really a 200-year-old vampire ...Stefan is poised, polite and reserved but easy to talk to." How would you not fall in love with that?
But to Stephan's Vampire Diaries light there must be complementary darkness, and it comes in the form of his older brother, Damon Salvatore played by Ian Somehalder. Damon is a sexy, dark and dangerous vampire. His Vampire Diaries casting call reads like this: "Looks to be early to mid 20s...he's a darkly handsome, strong, charming and smug vampire who can go from casual and playful to pure evil in less than a heartbeat...and has no qualms about killing humans..."
Thus, this is The Vampire Diaries' perfect setup for a good old-fashioned, gothic, romantic love triangle as the brother's fight passionately over the fair Elena Gilbert, played by Nina Dobrev. Elena is a compulsive journal writer and visitor to her recently deceased parent's gravesite. This Vampire Diaries venue makes for great scenes with lots of fog and a perfect location to meet a brooding but gorgeous vampire.
The Vampire Diaries certainly have all the needed ingredients to be a great hit show for the CW. Tune in tonight for the fun of watching the sexy vampire brothers as they introduce themselves in the dark world of The Vampire Diaries.
