The Vampire in My Dreams

Matthew Shively
There she was a vampire in my dreams
One that could not be resisted beyond any means
She looked at me with blood in her eyes
I new I was next and was soon to be my demise

But I could not understand what was to be of me
Upon her bite into my neck, I could be set free
Why should I resist her and fight
Why not let her send me to the new light

Is this a dream or a fantasy I cannot tell
Maybe it is neither and I will soon be pale
Will it hurt or will I feel no pain
Are my thoughts crazy or insane

A part of me wants this to be true
That she is indeed real and my time is due
I am not in fear as though I am ready to be
A creature of the night, I hope soon to see

I cannot fear what cannot be changed
But is this a normal dream or am I deranged
Maybe this plays true to me during the day
While I am prancing around at play

What is that feeling I feel when I stand
As I rub my neck I see blood on my hand
Could it be that she has finally taken me
Will I be immortal like she

I feel as though my body is being drained
I think this is real, in dreams you feel no pain
I feel as though I am dying inside
That is when she tells me to go along with the ride

I abruptly awoke so cold this night
Seeing things differently than before the fright
Then I realized it was no dream I had
I was no longer feeling pain or sad

This happened over 200 years ago
And is now your turn to go
Don't be afraid and lie down
It will only hurt for a second before you come around
