The Vast Grey Expanse

Scott A.Haynes

Displayed before mine eyes...

An ocean of cinnamon butter on an immense slice of toast stretching...

The Vast Grey Expanse featureless...

Devoid of form, purpose or measure...

One landmark to be had...

The Expanse itself, encompassing.

Empty wells brimming to the top...

Watch closely as nothing escapes, nothing recedes.

Greeting the silvery mist with an echo...

Which repeats itself infinitely...

Baubles burbled, dropped with great fanfare...

The Great Flame is avoidant ne'er to be seen...

Upon which engine draws life...

To the Vast Grey Expanse a soliloquy,

Your presence I no longer require,

Thank you for your assistance, I shall be going now.
