The Verdict: Obama Picks Biden as His Vice Presidential Candidate

Nneka
We have waited long enough, and the choice is clear: Barack Obama has chosen the Delaware Senator Joe Biden as his running mate for the 2008 presidential election.

This is such a great pick for Obama, whom some had been speculating may choose Hilary Clinton, Evan Bayh, or John Edwards amongst other candidates. Joe Biden had been mentioned as a clear front runner, but with none of the Obama people leaking any information no one knew exactly who, which was great because it heightened the anticipation.

Biden comes with a 35 years of Washington experience, having served in the senate since 1973, is chairman of the U.S Foreign Relations Committee in the 110th congress, to name a few. He is said to be working in Washington but "not of Washington" The 65 years old Biden takes a daily train from his Wilmington Delaware home to his job in Washington, and returns by the same avenue. He has been a dedicated family man and model representative of his state, preferring to spend his non-working hours in the state he serves and in with his family.

I believe that this is indeed the "dream ticket,' as Biden brings his wealth of experience in public policy, international affairs, and strong leadership. He is the punch that Obama needs to faceoff with John McCain who had been punching with not much challenge from Obama.

Even though Biden seemed to have been the one democratic candidate who was critical of Obama's experience and ability to govern the nation, Obama's pick of Biden once more confirms his desire to reach across the other side to unite for the betterment of the nation. Obama has always been the candidate who agrees to disagree, but also always seeks to work something out for mutual benefits. His choosing Biden further shows his leadership and judgment skills, preferring to put the interest of the nation on foreign relations and leadership even when the man had previously been bashful of his own skills.

It shows that he is willing to work with someone that will benefit the country regardless of that person's personal view of him. In other words, Obama was not trying to pick a candidate who will "yes sir" him or make it hard to complete the agenda he is set to accomplish, but rather someone who will be a strong force in getting to that agenda. Joe Biden is the rightful candidate. O-Biden 2008!

But do you know that he has more experience than did Lincoln, and you know what Lincoln did: one of the greatest Pres in history.
It is possible Obama will do the same.
Also, what is the alternative? Another 4 years of McBush? Now, then will there be tears!
