The Victim

Z.J. Ascensio
I want to fit in
I'll play this game
Betray those now worthless
But claim I'm the same

And when they say I've changed
I'll play the victim

I crave the attention
I'll ride on a star
When it burns out
I won't know who they are

And if they cry I've denied them
I'll play the victim

A friend in fair weather
A friend for one season
A friend only if you
give me a good reason

I'm not a person
Just a hungry parasite
Feeding on your glory
Thirsting for your light

Don't point it out
I'll play the victim

When I wake up alone
Friendless am I
Still without talent
My whole life a lie

I caused it myself
I am the victim

So many people walk through life, wearing different faces, it is difficult to know who is genuine at times. I like your style. Real poets have a honesty that is unbound. Walt Whitman said it best "I harbor for good or bad, I permit to speak at every hazard,
Nature without check with original energy."
    Nice job.
