We proposed ourselves a debate on this topic. We would want to discover how we, people worldwide, managed to transform the beginning of the sexual life, a such natural thing, into a show full of bed- sheets, auctions...a show in which the stake is not related to sex or sexual desire, but it is strictly related to money. America vs. Romania: 40 Years old virgin...if the Americans succeeded to make an amusing comedy, in which the main character- virgin at a certain age- passes throw all kinds of fun situations, the reporters managed to find a 46 old Romanian man who wants to loose his virginity only if he finds someone available (a woman, I hope) - someone who is able to attract him.
The journalists haven't contacted the man who wants to sell his virginity to women worldwide. He was contacted, instead, by the local porn stars who offered themselves to help him get rid of the problem, in the most practical manner.
Romania is a country of contrasts, a country where some grandmothers still advice their teenage nieces to wait for a relationship with a nice man, if not for marriage; a country where women and men sell on auctions their virginity, where all the guests of a gipsy wedding wait to dance on the bed- sheet stained with blood that proves the chastity of the bride.
I try to understand how everything works. Those people try to sell their virginity because it is valuable or because they hope that somebody would value it enough to pay for it? Moreover, why don't we hear as much as in Romania about similar situations from other countries? There isn't any country in which virginity is lost at birth...it's surely that they also have their virgins. It is maybe because those from the outside, those who have no moral values as some Romanians think about them, wish to make this naturally for all people, when they will want and with the right person.
Similar to the stories with Romanian women who sell their virginity on auctions on the Internet and men who search in the newspaper for claimants, is the story of the Russian girl who, sad because she hadn't met her husband when she was a virgin, offered him, after a year of marriage, a hymen (created throw surgical procedure). The Russian girl ended in a hospital, after she made six operations to restore her hymen.
Let's consider the entertainment area: in USA is still a trend of celebrities who declare (or really are) "pure" and will to stay like this until marriage. Jonas Brothers band -you know them if you have teenage girls- is formed by three brothers who promised to remain virgins until marriage.
Romania sells its virginity
- To who? -To anybody who wills to pay for it!
Several psychologists were asked about what's the general opinion on virginity in the present. They answered that the opinions are divided.
Apparently, we could say that in our days the virginity is an insignificant element in the life of a young woman; but it represents an issue that should be considered when it comes about the conflict between generations. It is very true that the place occupied by virginity is not available anymore- in the past, the only person who was allowed to benefit from
it was the one who was accomplishing several criteria.
The young people canceled the principle of the virginity that should be intact until marriage; what should be considered is the fact that we give up virginity when we are ready, when we have a stable relationship based on feelings and not when the others or the fashion requires it.
The studies show that more and more children (teenagers) loose their virginity and that the age gets increasingly lower. I've read last week about an 11 old boy and a 13 old girl who made a film while they were having sex. Are they the victim of the others' pressure or it's simply about a natural evolution?
It is certainly about an evolution, but also about an unnatural rush. It is rather about an earlier forced maturity. "I grow up faster, in order to reach the others, and not because this is the way in which things should be."
There is a quite significant change regarding the age at which our mothers and grandmothers were losing their virginity (in most cases, this was happening when they were getting married), the ages at which women from our generation (17 years old or more) do it and the ages at which our younger sisters and even our daughters loose their virginity.
The psychologists think that the main causes of this phenomenon are:
- People gave up staying away from any sexual contact until marriage;
- The group of friends- they all done it- I must do it, too;
- The desire to have everything- "the relationship doesn't work without sex";
- The alert rhythm- the desire to ignore the natural stages of development;
Regarding those who sell their virginity or think about doing it, the experts say that it's about money and fame and the misunderstanding of these notions.
The extreme materialism leads to this phenomenon. Such persons forgot, or maybe they were never conscious that they have a huge potential they can value. If we value correctly all our skills, the money will come. If we choose to think that we don't have any other solution than to sell our body- we deal with similar situations to those described.
How can you really earn? - And no, it's not about money. Loosing virginity is a fact that shouldn't be perceived as something that can lead to a material gain; it is preferable to see it as a natural stage of personal and relational development.

I don't think selling your virginity is a sign of being deperate. There are tons of women who lose their virginity for free through deperation. They weren't desperate for money, but they may have been desperate for love, attention, affection, popularity, or approval.
Wow interesting topic...I don't get it, though...these people must really be desperate!
a truly interesting article, there was a case of a woman selling her virginity in the usa, she was doing it over the internet, and ten there was talk about how legal that was or was not, I don't know what became of it though.
