The Vixen Diaries

"Confessions of a Video Vixen" was a whirl wind of scandal, testimony, and sex. With the release of Karrine Steffans new book, "The Vixen Diaries," I am sure it will be as much an intriguing piece of literature as its predecessor. While Confessions told of sexual acquaintences of the Hollywood elite, the Diaries will give instances of her life after her first book release.

I've been following Karrine through Karrine.com and keeping track of her tour. It was great to hear that she was coming to Atlanta. She rocked the city by partying at our hot, quality, venues and also graced us with her presence at the bookstores. I'm also watching "Karrine TV," which is the best way to be updated about what's going on with the tour and her life surrounding her career and whatever else she wants us to know about. (Like Weezy baby).

Aside from the rumor mill, the spotlight has been shining brightly around Karrine about her support for women whom were once in her shoes, women & young girls who feel down on themselves for whatever reason, as well as young men who have questions about relationships and women. These things need to be said because what's done in the past is done and the present is definitely here. In her present she is in charge and has been adding to her brand, finally bringing to the world Steffans Publishing and Vixen Signature Collection luxury automotive accessories line. Big pimping and congrats to her!

On to the book. I was anxious, so I made my way to the nearest Borders and had to sit and check it out. I read 8 chapters in 1 hour. It's a pretty easy read and very entertaining, thought provoking, serious and sometimes funny. It starts with an introduction to the ICON. A big wig in Hollywood on and off the screen. Very powerful in some respects and a bit strange. Later in this tale, we discover that the ICON has an interest in a sort of S&M type act. Not only was it disgusting to think about but cringing to read it. Let me know what you think.

Other interesting points were when she told of a certain, back in the day, R&B crooner whom seemed to want to mentor her and praise her. Not, too mentor-ish to me. (If that's a word).

Since she is an advocate of safe sex and self - respect, Ms. Steffans gave us a tidbit of information concerning STD's and the empowerment of women being aware of the secret lives of some men, which shocked the mess out of me, and I am grateful to her for that.

One of my favorite things about the book is that she spoke on her television/interviewee experiences and compared them. Of course the best was Oprah! One of the worst? The Tyra Banks Show!

Other tidbits & things to look forward to? Another R&B crooner encounter, an E! reality star, and some friend or foe action about two Hollywood actresses, one working and one not.

I know I barely skimmed the surface but I didn't want to give anything juicy away. "The Vixen Diaries" has just made its way as # 6 on a New York Times Bestsellers list. Karrine Steffans has definitely evolved and is certainly a woman of the times.

Happy reading,
