The Wagon Wheel Coffee Shop - The Place to Go for Breakfast in Carmel Valley, CA

This is a cute little breakfast and lunch spot nestled in Carmel Valley, California. The food is wonderful and very reasonably priced. It has a quaint western decor and super friendly staff. If you are in the area it is definitely worth the trip to stop on by. I have eaten at several of the restaurants in the area, and the Wagon Wheel is by far one of my favorites.

My husband and I went to the Wagon Wheel Coffee Shop for a nice breakfast on our anniversary. We were looking for a pleasant atmosphere in which to spend a little quality time together. We were not disappointed in the food or the atmosphere.

What we ordered: I had the Wheel which is a monster of a breakfast including yummy Katy Cakes, which are dollar size pancakes; bacon, eggs done your way; and sausage. It is certain to fill up even the hardiest appetite. They also brought me warm maple syrup for my Katy Cakes, yum. My husband ordered the Calamari Steak and eggs breakfast that comes with potatoes and toast (or other various choices of breads). He said it was excellent. The calamari steak is made special for the Wagon Wheel, and my husband says it has an excellent flavor. To drink I had a diet cola, which was a good diet Pepsi (refillable). My husband had a hot chocolate which looked delectable. They piled it high with marsh mellows and whipped cream.

Other Food Options: They serve a lunch menu which we haven't tried along with other breakfast favorites such as omelets.

The Cost: Our bill came to about $25 for meals, drinks, tax and tip. I think this is pretty reasonable. The wheel was $9.95 and the calamari steak was $8.95. Most of the breakfast selections range from $6.95 to $9.95. The only drawback to this restaurant is what they accept for payment. This is a cash only restaurant (they do have an ATM available), so be sure to bring enough cash to pay for your excellent meal.

The atmosphere: The restaurant's eating area is fairly small and cozy and is decorated with an interesting hodge podge of western paraphernalia. The wait staff is extra friendly tending to your needs quickly and with a smile. They kept my soda refilled without me having to ask. The owner may even open the door for you on your way out like he did for us. The people who own and run this business are extra nice and I am glad to do business with them.

Other Info: You will find the Wagon Wheel in the Valley Hills shopping center, which has some other nice stores you might want to visit while you are in the neighborhood such as the wine tasting room or the general store. You don't need a reservation for the Wagon Wheel, but it usually is a bit busy so you might have to wait a few minutes to get a table.

So if you are out and about in Carmel Valley, CA and are looking for a good breakfast, lunch or brunch you should definitely give the Wagon Wheel a try. They are open from 6am till 2pm and would love to have you stop by.
