"The Walking Dead " Fun Zombie Nick Names

Walking Dead Walkers & Geeks & Zombies, Oh My!

If you've been watching the great Frank Darabont produced TV show on AMC, "The Walking Dead", you've undoubtedly heard fun nicknames characters use for our dearly departed zombie antagonists.

Zombies may not be very talkative, cuddly or even at all likable, but they deserve an affectionate nickname just like any other big bad. Consider the veteran wicked villains of movies and television. Dracula is often called 'Lord of The Undead' or 'Prince Of Darkness', while the Wolfman has been referred to as 'Wolfie' or maybe 'Fuzzball' - look out Chewbacca!

One of my favorite 'classic' monsters comes from Universal Studios. "Creature From The Black Lagoon" is a landmark sci-fi thriller. The 'Creature' has been playfully called everything from 'Gill-man' to 'Fish Face.' Not to be outdone, one of cinema's biggest, baddest and hungriest monster fish is all but known by his nickname - "Jaws." During the filming of the Steven Spielberg landmark hit movie, his crew referred to the mechanical prop shark as Bruce.

So far, characters in "The Walking Dead", call zombies 'walkers' or 'geeks.' In that silly spirit of coming up with fun nicknames for the things that scare us most, let me to join on on the fun. Here's a few nicknames I've coined for "The Walking Dead" zombies.

'Roaming Romeros' or merely 'Romeros'

'Johnnys' - Barbara's brother in "Night Of The Living Dead"

'Bub' or 'Bubs' - from George Romero's "Day Of The Dead"

As much as I like "The Walking Dead", we've not heard any references to classic zombies - yet anyway. So these people live in a world which has never seen "Night of the Living Dead" or "Dawn Of the Dead"? Maybe. Or maybe they're just too busy fighting the zombie hoards to talk cinema!

Can you come up with zombie nicknames? It's certainly a fun way to pass time between watching more shambling zombies thirsting for the living. Though, I do think, that if the world was really being overrun with walking dead zombies like in "The Walking Dead" - the stressed out survivors would be calling them names much too nasty for polite print.

I read somewhere that the show said that there is no such thing as zombie movies or the idea of zombies as a horror genre exists in their universe.

I never do zombies. It's just too horrible a concept for me.
