When my boyfriend decided to let me pick out my engagement ring, he went to all other places besides Wal-mart. You name the jewelry store, and he went there. Since I am the type of penny-pincher who likes to save money and save other's money, I suggested that he go to Wal-mart to buy my engagement ring. He absolutely abhorred the idea of going to Wal-mart for such an important item as an engagement ring. I absolutely could not convince him to purchase my engagement ring from Wal-mart.
Wal-mart: The Engagement Ring Stigma
Like it or not, there has to be a stigma associated with Wal-mart engagement rings or wedding rings. Wal-mart is where I purchase my groceries for cheap prices, Wal-mart is where I sometimes purchase many other things for cheap prices. Wal-mart is associated with the word "cheap". Why should Wal-mart engagement rings or weddings rings be associated with the word "cheap" as well? No boyfriend wants to purchase his girlfriend an engagement ring from Wal-mart if it's going to look cheap and non-classy on his part.
Maybe They're Not Cheap
I decided to stop into a Wal-mart store to see what I thought of their engagement rings. I actually thought that the Wal-mart engagement rings looked very, very nice. I thought that the Wal-mart engagement rings had a nice shine to them, and were prettily designed. I couldn't see anything wrong with the Wal-mart engagement rings that I saw.
On a Budget: What's Wrong With Wal-mart
There is nothing wrong with going to Wal-mart to pick out an engagement ring. Who cares about the stigma of Wal-mart. The engagement ring and the thought behind it is what counts, not where it's from. The Wal-mart engagement rings are gorgeous, and I believe that in today's economy, a Wal-mart engagement ring may be a great thing to purchase for couples looking to get engaged. I think that the stigma of buying an engagement ring at Wal-mart should wear off soon. Not everyone has big dollars to purchase an engagement ring with, and I think that the Wal-mart engagement ring is a very viable option in this economy. Certainly, not everyone can afford to spend a lot of money on an engagement ring, and I don't think that it's necessary to do so. If you find a nice-looking engagement ring at Wal-mart that's within your budget, then definitely consider purchasing it. No, I don't work for Wal-mart and never have.
