The War Path Saves No One

Why Do We Say Yes to War, Always?

4,000 soldiers dead and a country left with no bread. The amount of deaths in this country is staggering. 4,000 soldiers are dead and that is most definitely a tragedy. Those boys and girls went into the situation expecting that, yes, they may die. They may be wounded. When they signed an agreement with Uncle Sam to fight this war it was expected as a possibility. Albeit, most of these soldiers were fighting under different pretenses. They thought they were fighting a defensive war.

Al Qaeda thought to be in Iraq and the stabilization of the country from its transition of a dictatorship to a supposed democracy has taken well over one hundred thousand civilian lives. This figure is low, it is the minimum. Most likely it's a much larger figure. This, they got simply because they were born in the wrong country. They never signed up to a war with the expectation and admitted possibility that one of them might die. They had no choice. Guns were placed to their heads literally and their brains left melting on the floor. Children that never signed up, that never asked for any of this are left dead in the streets where they play. Mothers and fathers are left dead in the wake of the United States Military machine "looking for insurgents", or Al Qaeda operatives. Are all of these people a part of Al Qaeda? Are all of these people guilty of attacking the United States Military? The official military policy is that they don't count the number of Iraqis that are killed. These people are not part of a military, they are people living in their houses, and feeding their children. Remember, just because it's not on the news does not mean it never happened. It will be lodged in the memories of those soldiers who come back to tell their stories.

And so there are 4,000 soldiers that have now died as a result of being ordered to remain in a country to disturb the lives of the people living there. These soldiers, most of them, have a heart. Even though they have been through training and conditioning that tries to turn them into cold blooded killers who will do anything at the drop of a command signal. But deep down, they want to come home, all of them, because they know that one of them could be next to die and the atrocities that are the result of this war will haunt them forever.

The effect this will have on the war on terror and the war in general is an absolute disgust for the United States Military by the world citizens. All over the world, a hatred has been developing for this military the likes never seen before, not even Rome. This military has over one hundred thirty bases in the world. Out of one hundred and ninety countries they have one in almost all of them and especially the important ones. This death toll that continues to rise on American soldiers is hitting home. Mothers and fathers in this country are feeling the effects of a lost son or daughter. It hurts. Children and wives are feeling the loss of their husbands. Agony is surrounding this war. The families of these 4,000 soldiers on this side now have something in common with those poor people on the other side, the loss of family members They've unknowingly sent their sons and daughters into a war that has no defensive purpose. It is a war of conquest.

The presidential race now will have to cater to this. They will have to promise that they will bring the troops home and promise certain corporations and lobbyists that they will keep them there. It's a delicate balancing act, but as you may have already figured out, the ones with more money tip that balance their way. Parents who have children there don't want theirs to be next in this death escapade and so the politicians that will get their vote will be the one that makes that promise. Not surprisingly, the future president might be democratic in an effort to balance out the anger that is fermenting in this country, with promises of ending this war. This topic is the most important with parents. Is it worth losing all of these sons, daughters, mothers, and fathers to win this un-winnable war?
