Pain aplenty, a bullet to the brain,
Gain afew, all too soon the war is over,
And the first notes of a ceasefire strain.
The cause is over, deed is done,
Lives taken, Father, Brother, Husband, Son.
Everyone returns to the peace charade,
Some to hate mail, others to a celebratory parade.
Their courageous deeds awarded and honoured,
Medals are proffered, while the blood splattered walls and screams of anguish,
Are forever to the annals of history banished.
Premiers plot in secret rooms,
Each dancing to anothers tunes.
Favours change hands, treaties are signed,
Evildoers are caught and confined.
The world is calm, an illusion that binds us all in our quest for peace.
But surely War is too expensive a fee,
To pay for killing an enemy,
Who'll rise again with the morning sun.
What power has paper over a fanatics gun,
What power have men over anothers mind,
It serves no use that treaty signed.
The illusion will break, the world will fall.
But then they smile to themselves,
Soldiers are alive to kill and stall,
Our eyes from viewing Civilization's curtain call.
Does it not seem that the War for Peace will be our ultimate downfall...

Hey hi Prerna....this poem reminds me of the song 'childhood lost' by floyd....good work...however its sad that though many would love to assert their opinions with you....the ears which should hear these words have all gone deaf...however i hope through this you reach out to many who inculcate the essentials and strive accordingly for a cause which is worthy enough...like its rightly said...there are many things worth living for, many worth dying for but there is nothing worth killing for....on a philosphical note....these incidences are inevitable however yes if the innocent r spared it would make the whole effort a bit more worthwhile....bt then thats the reason i guess people say all's fair in war....all this is only laying the foundation for the future age actually...take care n all the best...keep rocking...cheers!
