the WAR on TERROR

Yup, We're Still at It.....with Good Reason

THE WAR ON TERROR

The cut and run, left wing nuts are still at it. Our NDP leader, Jack Layton, supported our then prime minister when he committed our troops to Afghanistan for a peacemaking, not peacekeeping mission. Now that we have a Conservative PM, Mr. Layton wants to get out somewhere along the timeline of yesterday. Casualties are mounting and the PM committed our troops to 2 more years of being in country. Jack says this is all a surprise to him. Equine excrement. He wants to be a king maker and leans pretty far to the left.

Now, along comes Bloc Quebecois Leader Gilles Duceppe who is making the same noise. But his mouth is open for a different reason. Most of both the combat work and "peacemaking" has been done by Edmonton's Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry and Ontario's Royal Canadian Regiment. The Princess Pat's are looking at spending another Christmas away from home. Why you ask? Let's ask Warrant Officer Daniel Parenteau. Parenteau, whose job it is to liaise with the Afghan people, also reflected on the mission the Canadian government has sent him on. "I'm proud of what I do," he said. "We don't want to die. But we want to change this country -- to give hope." Isn't that what it's all about? Whether in Afghanistan or Iraq, people need and want hope. They want freedom. Witness those who voted in the Iraqi, Irani and Afghan elections. At great peril to themselves, they voted to rid themselves of dictatorship. The terrorists don't seem to get it. Hezbollah is now at war with Hamas. Maybe it is time to quit Iraq and let these jerks blow themselves to bits.

Back to Mr. Duceppe, he wants our PM to "rapidly and profoundly" modify Canada's role in the conflict. Why you ask? Because the Canadian NATO contingent in Kabul, in his words, "in a few months will be made up of men and women from Valcartier." Remember that joke about buying a French military rifle? You can't go wrong as it's never been used before. The Germans proved this in WW II and De Gaulle ran like a scared rabbit. The French-speaking Royal 22nd Regiment has seen guard house duty in Afghanistan. Whoop-de-doo. But now they may actually have to fight. What a travesty that would be. Live in Canada, enjoy the freedoms given you, support a bunch of treasonous members of Parliament and don't lift a finger to give anything back. Screw the Afghans, the Iraqis, the Iranis and everyone else. I am French and I come before you. Keep me as comfortable as possible and I'll still say screw you. Let the Americans, Brits or those other Canadians do the fighting. We must be appeased so we can keep cooking with cheese. Duceppe threatens to bring down the government of the country over this issue. It casts unfair and unwarranted aspersions on the Van Doos, a proud, fierce fighting group of Frenchmen who want to pay their dues and are probably chomping at the bit to go.

Warrant Officer Parenteau and his family deserve better than this from the despicable and opportunistic Gilles Duceppe.

Harry does have a way of torking off anyone who actually thinks, Fellow CP. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed!! He's all depressed because he can't hold a candle to Youranter and he knows it.

Something as relevant as your insults to both Canada and America? Or maybe your relevant remarks about "the fine art of self copulation?" Honestly, Harry....

Know something, Youranter? I think Harry has some sort of a personal problem. He keeps suggesting that others should go play with themselves. Do you think his Imam knows? If so, the Imam must be very proud of someone who treats the US and Canada with such disrespect.

You're right Harry, we do take advantage of the US. They know they protect us and I can't blame them for being bitter about it. Maybe if the Liberals had supported our military instead of trying to emasculate it things would be different. But they're not and we have to live with it. Like I said before, our role in Afghanistan is watching our neighbours back. Anyway, what does this have to do with the article? I was trying to get across the point that the French, whether here in Quebec or over in France, seem to fit the role of cowards.

Harry, if I can choose who I want as a neighbour, it would be America hands down rather than Iraq. The Liberals decimated our armed forces and America, by being next door, protected us. I make no bones about that. It is pay back time and that's what we are trying to do. It doesn't mean we can't have differences over such things as softwood lumber or salmon. Maybe the US and Canada are a bit dysfunctional at times. So be it. But when push comes to shove, we both push the same way.

Well, Harry... obviously your thinking mechanism doesn't work very well. The US and Canada are allies and all your crap can't change that.

In Harry and Paul's eyes, the Muslims can do no wrong Don. Let them pray with their buddies. Asking them to think or know how to read is far beyond them. They take orders from the Imam only.

Harry and Paul, not only is your ignorance showing, but so are your skirts. Ever hear of the "Coalition of the Willing"? We are all fighting the War on Terror and Canada stands with the US. So does the UK and many others. You really should learn to read (or at least to think!)

There is no upside for Canada, Harry. During Viet Nam our military was busy being decimated by our Liberal gov't. We couldn't have fought if we wanted to. We were reduced to peacekeepers, not peacemakers. There is a big difference there. As for Iraq, the states turned its sights on them and asked NATO to cover their backs elsewhere. Still, no upside for us, but we did go to help. Under our last PM we finally grew some balls and under the current one they continue to grow. Canada relies on the US for its security. Why not help them out when they ask. I'm not proud of our recent military history and I'm sure our soldiers aren't either. But we're finally making a comeback.

  • Youranter12/18/2006

Okay, sport. Canada happens to be a part of NATO. The US needed backup in Afghanistan. It called on its NATO allies. Some sent troops, others didn't. We are there to help. We are doing our best. If you want to call it America's war go right ahead. It doesn't take away from the fact that on either side combatants call on their allies to help them. Is that clear enough?
